I see what people are saying about the wigs, although given had adaptable Tyranid DNA is, I'm surprised that hair and other human features have not been added yet. As to the 4th generation cultists, I was under the impression that they looked almost entirely human except for pale skin and hypnotic eyes, with tattoos beneath clothing being used for cultists to mark themselves out.

4th generation don't look "exactly" (finger quotes and all) human. They can pass for human, in cult of the spiral dawn the female Magus painted her forehead bumps like jewellery and had purple lipstick to mix with her mauve tinted skin to sell it off as make up. Also her claws are explained away as pretty much fake finger nails if I recall correctly. (I need to read the book again.)

edit:In the case of living in an underhive or lower hive or in any cruddy hell hole in 40k I imagine 4th generation can walk around just fine, people might think they look a little weird.

I preferred the lore back when there was no connection between Genestealers and Tyranids. Back before every single dangerous alien in the 40k universe started being re-written as related to the Nids in some way.

You preferred when there were two six limbed alien monster races whose battlefield tactics centered around running at you, and whose schtick was biological shenanigans?

They overdid things in 3rd when they started implying that catachan devils and fenris kraken were tyranids but that was an attempt to increase the cosmic nature and scale of the tyranids threat.

Vanguard organisms make sense in the same way that the space probes in TESB make sense. The Galaxy is vast, there isn't biomass everywhere- it's more probable to float right through the milky way and hit nothing at all.
Fart out a few million stealer pods and shoot them off towards light sources and you can reduce the odds of starving before you ever find a meal.

You may even get an invitation to a free meal, rather than having to expend energy and biomass invading.

It adds a sinister dimension to what would otherwise be 'space monsters attack!'

Yup pretty much my thought as well, hence my dislike of when people try and decouple the cult from the nids. Just because one cult get's nommed it's not the end, your cult is constantly sending out vectors of infection via missionaries and genestealers. Going back to my own fan-fiction I now feel it was a shame that I went that route trying to do that. Anyway that's just my opinion. I do recommend if people haven't read cult of the spiral dawn they should.

Peter is a great BL author, he captures GSC well.
