Gw should have never allowed you to back pedal. New datasheet replaces the old. Options that get cut get cut. They opened up a whirlwind of imbalance and total nonsense by allowing this.

you and the horse you rode in on. Pretty much every eldar player who’s been in longer than the 7e bandwagon is happy there is a way of preserving what autarchs are actually supposed to be, and not the fixed-loadout garbage in the codex.

Similarly, would you like to tell all the white scars players with full fluffy bike lists “too bad”? deprecation was the mistake, not the flowchart

I am sorry if you (would have) lost your favorite model or fluffy whatever. Is this total fething mess of rules allowances and the complete lack of ability to move forward and balance without also making allowances for everything that came before worth it? 100% no. It's not.

They could just give you good Autarch options. Or they could give necron Lord/overlords all their toys back (but those got cut in the index too so feth necrons I guess?). Or they could have stolen a bit from 30k and allowed armies made of full whatever have special ways to build their FoC in the form of rites of war allowing white scars to take bikes as troops as well as FA. But naw... lets just make it a confusing garbage dump thats impossible to update instead.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I'm confused. What exactly about allowing Index options is ruining your games?

I never said it's ruining MY games. I said it makes it impossible for them to update and balance.

Sometimes, in order to balance you want to add and/or remove options to give the unit a refined and distinct place. Instead we have 30 years of bloat options piled onto things that now cannot be gotten rid of even when the codex tries to.

It's a untenable situation that would never have existed if they were just smart enough to say "The lastest datasheet is the only valid one. We will release new datasheets as we update."

the thing stopping them from doing anything the reasonable way is a simple one. “no model no rules going forward” its why the codex datasheets for some units are so awful, and they extended this to characters (xxx on bike for example)

ripping conversion opportunities out of the hobby is one of the remaining bits of corporate cancer that needs to go and stay gone.
