Okay, this one dawned on me for the sheer realism of behavior.

In Terminator 2 we establish how much of an absolute badass Sarah Connor is, we hear what she's gone through and see her take out orderly staff effortlessly. When she rounds the corner and comes face to face with the Terminator, all that falls to the wayside. She loses every bit of her training in a blind panic, fleeing in terror as she's barely able to physically do anything. For all the preparation she had made, she was not ready. As a combat vet this one holds a new meaning for me today.

In Total Recall, when Arnie comes back after his co-worker Harry tries to kill him he says to his wife, Sharon Stone.....

"You know Harry from work? He wants to.... GET DOWN!"

Still quote that to this day.....

Pitch Black, the entire opening starship crash scene.

The opening scene on the mining beach in Alien 3 was quite well done. Good atmosphere with the wind howling and the huge industrial mining rigs on the coast etc.

The Thing - Defibrillator scene.

Amazing effects and comes out of nowhere up to that point in the movie.

Not sure if its been mentioned yet but the final fight scene in The Matrix 3. Rain falling and an epic battle between two almost god like warriors causing huge bubble shockwaves to spread through the rain each time they collide all done to a powerful backing song.

The bit where they're surveying the crash scar the Hunter-Gratzner left when it crashed, and Claudia Black's character "Shazza" just sums it up with one phrase.

"Bloody hell."

-"On your right" from End Game (probably the most moving moment I've had in a movie theatre outside of LoTR)
-The John Carter dogpile scene when he takes on the entire horde (totally holds up)
-Not sure if qualifies as sci-fi but the elevators opening in Cabin in the Woods.

Reminds me of my Magic playing days. Ether Flash killing generator decks, even had one guy rage quit on me during a tourney because he had nothing to counter it with.
