Most faction dice are terrible and I cringe every game where I have to play against someone using them.

The plastic DG dice do make excellent nurgle wound counters though!

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

Kickstarter seems.to be regularly awash with dice offerings. Almost universally they are horribly and illegibly coloured. It's like war games accessory designers are all colour impaired magpies in some special way.

My Dark Angels dice (from GW) are pretty easy to read at a glance. One of the few GW sets for which this holds true. I cringed a little bit when I saw the new Sisters ones, as I wanted to get them but not if I can't use them.

GW really nailed it with both those Blood Angels and Dark Angels dice sets - easily readable, painted on pips, skull for 1, chapter symbol for 6, square edges... What's not to love?

I’m in a pretty casual/gentleman’s league with about 25 people and any weird dice without pips are expressly not allowed. The Roman numeral ultramarine dice are my least favorite but the space wolves scratch marks are a close second.

Arguments that actually the skull is the 6 and a chapter symbol is the 1, and the number of times this might change in the course of a game.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

I have never anyone said me that the skull of my Adeptus Custodes Dice was the 6 and the Custodes symbol the 1. That just doesn't happen.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

This sounds like a made-up problem, honestly.

Even a wonderfully basic logical train of thought, skull = dead.

Is it? If i'm rolling to wound a skull equals a failure, not dead model.

The issue with the skulls is that across the table, etc...it's just an "icon", and your opponent may not know what it is. It's hugely unnecessary.

Almost without exception, they make the game more difficult than it needs to be. All the numbers on dice should be apparent at a glance from across the table and most of them are not.

This.
I even find dice with a symbol for a 6 or a 1 confusing. some of the symbol ones do look cool but functionally they bug the hell out of me.

I'd agree that symbols on one AND six are unnecessarily convoluted. Generally, I think most fancy dice are only really useful (and can be fun) for things like tracking wounds, CPs, VPs etc (but then I am mainly an Ork player). The new Sisters ones wouldn't even be good for that – horrible design.
