I'd be quite happy with that, especially if something was put in place so that if you couldn't complete the move due to enemy units being in the way you were wiped.

That's why I think it is that way -- that break out strat mentions that very dynamic -- if you land w/i engagement range you die.

That would explain the comment by "The Playtester That Shall Not Be Named" that tripointing would be completely different. Instead of locking up a unit by wrapping a single model you need to wrap the whole unit. Would make big units great for locking things in combat.

OK, I guess the boat left and I wasn't on it, but what is the deal with the playtester who shall not be named. Are they Voldemort or something? Why cant their name be spoken? If we knew who they were, we may be able to just ask them. Is this in reference to the Archwarhammer/40klore reddit kerfluffle or are we talking about a different "he who shall not be named"?

I believe it was Reece from FLG who said that. Gadz is just being silly.

Yeah, it was a joke, because yeah, that guy.

If I were to guess what power of the machine spirit does now, I'd say free overwatch instead of having to spend a CP for it. But I'm usually wrong on these things.

Oh god the rage if that's true...

As long as it includes daemonic machine spirit I'd be cool with it. Means my fellblade could unleash Thirteen Barrels of Hell on anything trying to charge it.

Right behind you.

I could see PoTMS/DMS being something like if you fell back then you could still fire any sponson weapons you have.

Yes, but what does it do for the super heavy units with potms/dms that can already do that with everything because of the steel behemoth rule? Or the flyers with potms/dms? It's going to be interesting how they handle this.

Edit:
Perhaps they'll drop potms/dms altogether and rebalance the points on the units that previously had it to reflect that all vehicles now have the same ability.

Did you miss that units will be able to Fall Back even if surrounded in the OP?

IDK if this is posted but in here it says Airborne always gets to move+advance out of engagement range, meaning they can also shoot.

Yeah we knew that before, they've mentioned it elsewhere.

But yeah, Aircraft aren't falling back, they are just continuing to fly.

While this is true, it is only in regards to Normal Move/Advance into/out of Engagement Range.

We do not know how the interaction where the aircraft is charged/have charged will work in 9th edition. It may follow the rules for units with FLY keyword or may have a whole different rules for AIRCRAFT keyword.

Yeah, but they can't shoot if I do that. The rest can shoot me, but I'm still turning off their chapter tactic.
