Someone in the trade correct me if I am wrong, but trade accounts can put in an order for a specific amount above whatever their trade terms requires as a minimum to maintain their current trading terms. E.g. stockist must order 10 boxes, but wants to order 45 and places order accordingly. GW calls them back and says due to high demand, they have been allocated 35 instead of the 45 they ordered.This does not necessarily mean it is sold out, but that everything GW had set aside for the trade is allocated. GW could come back in a couple of weeks and let the stockists know that they are able to release more to the trade owing to stock that was previously allocated to GW's webstore being made available because GW didn't seel everything allocated to the webstore.

Either way, as mentioned previously, seems the wise course of action is to place your pre-order this Saturday.

Considering UK 3rd party stores aren't even taking online orders yet its hard to tell how well that means is selling out.

Basically because 3rd party stores have been placing orders with GW already. Those stores taking orders from the public a separate step.

Aye but I mean its still hard to say how well that means sales are going to be. Does it mean trade has stripped supply because supply is really that small compared to expected demand; are trade taking a big gamble on oversupplying themselves etc...

That said if trade has sold out already and there's a finite amount I'm not quite sure what 2 week preorder is going to achieve - that is unless GW is going to panic cast as many extras as they can.

I can only speak for my FLGS, but I know they have ordered a LOT more than people have pre-pre ordered. They are expecting it to sell well and are stocking up in a big way.

It's funny, because the community is running the panic on the box more than anything. I just hope people are sensible enough not to give the scalpers money, because GW will probably peel off some of those big FLGS orders. There will also be oodles of these getting parted for the usual pricing on eBay.

I’m nervous I’ll miss out, but I’m keeping myself in check.
With the Sisters box last year, I desperately wanted it, but was going on exchange to Sweden a few months after it dropped, so I held off. In Australia, preorders sold out in three minutes. I didn’t order.
Over the next few months I saw about a dozen boxes in various locations, eventually a week before I flew out I bought the last box available at a FLGS.
Flew over to Sweden on exchange, went to a FLGS over there, two more boxes. Europe pricing too.
Reminding myself of the fact I eventually got myself a Sisters box is keeping me in check, but this time I’m ordering when preorders open.

Limited to 3 boxes per order!!! So if you can’t get one from GW don’t worry because people are buying them to sell on eBay. It’s like Glastonbury tickets 10 years ago

Also will 3rd party stores be doing pre orders in line with GW? Many of them consistently undercut GW

They'll be using their normal pricing schemes so 20-25% off the RRP in a lot of places. Gw instead offer you some acrylic tokens and a coin.

According to my FLGS, they are doing pre orders as normal (except 2 weeks out instead of 1). As I say above, they have already placed a large order of stock with GW.

Worth noting you do get some extra goodies for going direct to GW. I'm not bothered, not compared to supporting my FLGS and getting a 3rd party seller discount, but some people will be.
