Rogue Trader has Marine Lieutenant's as a model although I have no idea if they had rules for them.

They sure did – in the 1E WD/40K Compendium army list, they were a compulsory choice, too. Seem to remember the WD139 (?) studio Blood Angels army had theirs riding around in a Landspeeder.

Not sure what happened in the 2E Codices (I was on a nothing-but-Orks kick at the time) but in 3E you had a "Space Marine Heroes" entry that didn't specify rank – it wasn't til the 4E Codex that the "Leader" level got dropped and you got the choice of Captain or "Master".

I find it odd that when trying to extrapolate what Eldar will get, you look at the Ork release rather than the Dark Eldar release (or lack thereof).

2 new hq models and redone inkys is a veritable release tsunami by aeldari standards !

One of those new HQs was back in 8th. As were the Incubi.

And Eldar already got an equivalent release back then in the form of Jain Zar and Banshees.

So enjoy your 9th edition "tsunami" of 1 redone HQ, I guess.

Perfect. Another decade and the phoenix lords will be completely plastic.

A decade is just a blink of an eye for an Eldar. No wonder members of the lesser race known as Mon-Keigh are outraged. They just don't have the wisdom that perfection takes it's time. By the way forget decade. Better make it a century.

Oh interesting, were there different profiles for the Lt and Capt at that time or did they both have the same profile?

In 1E, they had a separate army list entry, but due to the way the Hero levels worked in 40K (ported over from WFB) you could actually have a "Major Hero" Lt. with a better stat line than a lower-grade hero Captain.

In the 3E Codex (ad the preceding BRB army list), the "Space Marine Heroes" ("Depending upon its size and the importance of its mission, a Space Marine force may be led by an experienced veteran, a Company Captain, or even the Chapter Master Himself.") entry had three different statlines/points values (Leader, Commander, Force Commander) but any link to specific ranks was implied, rather than outright stated.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just remembered that in 1E, there was also the "Lieutenant Commander" entry in the list, who was the Chapter Master's 2nd-in-Command – don't think Chapter Masters ever actually cropped up in-game until Marny in 2E.

I keep hoping that it's not that GW doesn't know what to do with Eldar, but that they're waiting for the right time, and that this edition is it.

It's hope, and many would say that makes me naive, but it's what I got.

That's perfectly fair. It would certainly be nice if GW updated the Eldar range.

Especially since (unless I'm mistaken) there are very few alternative models available elsewhere, and also relatively few that can be easily converted into Eldar.

Yeah, when i read the small novel that is the Death Guard unit options and think about resolving the attacks from a melee-oriented min size death guard squad, the thing that springs to mind is "Accessible!"

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

Please report to your nearest GW store for attitude readjustment. Take your wallet.
