And Mark Strong was outstanding, this announcement really made my week. I never expected we’d ever get a sequel.
As usual, dienekes96 is spot on right - what an awesome 'out of nowhere' (for me at least!) announcement this was!
Never played the original. And like most trailers, it's all cutscene. What type of game is it?
My age these days has made 1st person shooters make me feel queezy (although I grew up on them). 3rd person doesn't, so I still play those (like most MMOs and the Division, Tomb Raider etc).
Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

Maybe didn't make it that far. Get tired of cutscenes advertising games when I want to see the game.
Thanks for letting me know. I'll maybe look into this one.

The first one was good cutscenes but the rest was pure gameplay. Dynamic. Hack And Slash is the genre I'd call the game. You'll play in 3rd person with ranged weapons, OR the chainsword / axes / whatever as if you were playing old God of War / DMC games.

At least the first game was the third person hack and slash action game described above with the occasional in game scripted cinematic kill move for a power up as shown below. The first person stuff was limited only to sniper mode of scoped weapons so if that bothers you then you can just not use them. Interestingly for it's time (the height of the Gears of War muddy cover based third person action craze), it wasn't cover based.
The gameplay starts at about 4:30 but the preceding cutscene is cool to watch if you haven't seen it already.
