The Lion coming so close to another Primarch and EC coming so close to World Eaters seems like GW releasing too much too soon. I'd not be surprised if Lion was saved to be a 'tent pole' model next year, woven into the narrative of 10th. EC wise I could see them being the launch faction for 11th and getting a range more comparable to DG. We would then have two 'fleshed out' Heretic factions and two 'minor' ones (then hopefully they can finally flesh out TSons).

If the current predictions are true, the Lion will be introduced in May with book 5 of AoO, and probably be previewed/revealed at Adepticon in March or even Warhammer Fest in April - at that point, it will be 8 to 10 months since the first image leak of Angron. It only feels close because Angron was known almost half a year before he was commercially available. If their original plan had worked out, they would have been released practically at the same time.

Yeah I think they'll show The Lion at Adepticon, and save Warhammerfest to focus on the new edition stuff. If today's teaser really is the rumoured new 40k dreadnought I expect it'll only be that shown, with the rest of the boxed set kept for Adepticon too.

Realistically between Guard wave 2 / World Eaters in February and 10th edition in likely late June, 40k doesn't seem to have a lot coming in terms of new kits. We're looking at 4-5 single character models plus whatever new space marine units to cover 3-4 months.

It's hard to be fleshed out when you're nothing but dust.

When Magnus came out, Guilliman was right behind.

Mortarion then came out.

So now we're getting Angron and potentially the Lion right behind.

And then later on, Fulgrim will come out.

Pattern-detecting monkey-brain says this checks out.

Perhaps new Skinks in general? As old kits go they’re not awful, but I’d love to see what sort of sculpting they’re capable of.

Note I almost said “see what they can do these days” but that would include halve the contents and increase the price. So I shan’t.

Oh.

Nothing for Specialist Games, in addition to no Specialist Games sneak preview for the year, at least lends credence to the various vague not-quite rumours of something huge coming from them later this year. Tinfoiled hope is hope too

Eh there are 4 game systems on the list that aren't 40k or AoS. I'm not sure if being a Specialist Game or not is still a meaningful distinction.

Of the 2, I’d much rather Saurus got redone if it’s one or the other. I think the Skinks have aged a lot better.

It honestly bugs me how inconsistent they are with skinks. The bastilodon and ripperdactyl riders came out before AOS, but are relatively new models in the range. Then the underworlds team came out and now skinks have ear holes and other differences that slightly irk me.

Fixing a points error
We’ve spotted a slight points error on the latest Munitorum Field Manual. It seems Space Marine Inceptors were running around with a pair of free plasma exterminators – which is a little unfair to their assault bolter-wielding battle brothers. Rather than wait three months for the next quarterly update, we thought we’d better make a quick change now – it’s +10 points each. Still deadly, but you have to pay for it.

There's some rumours on B&C re 10th that I cba copying over or creating a thread for, but supposedly first 10th tidbits will drop at adepticon, so whatever is shown at LVO isn't 10th apparently.

Not a surprise,. Gw hasn't shown editions this early generally. Usually more of may so even adepticon would be unusually early

iirc 9th ed 40k and 3rd ed aos were both previewed at adepticon in prior years. i remember watching the adepticon livestream and seeing the first reveal for 9th ed 40k on the stream pretty distinctly as it was right at the start of the pandemic, basically, while a lot of the world was in early stages of lockdown. They didn't tell us much about it, but they certainly revealed it.

Hmm possible i misremember and mix with first real peek of models/changes. Just saying something known for months might not register in memory anymore

Aos 3rd edition was annonced at 2021 warhammer fest, while 9th edition wasn't at any event, it was in an online preview in may. Neither could have been previewed at adepticon because it was cancelled due to covid.

Just as long as people accept that any reveals may not be as earh shattering as their internal hype meter has built them up to be, especially if they imagine what is going to be released.

Unless that cyber doggie is part of a full plastic Praetorian IG range. That would make my bald head grow hair again.

See how easy it is to get over excited. Guess I'd best prepare for disappointment.

We did have three. Snikrot, Farsight, and the Missile launcher space marine.

Not really? The show is at feth-off o'clock tonight/tomorrow morning for whatever reason (and like last year, will likely be live streamed from Nottingham rather than the event, so the why??? of that remains inscrutable), and there's only so much they can preview of the preview, before just doing the event previews of the Sunday previews of the preorders for the next couple months.

That we're getting 40k previews is kind of a given, even without the systems specified.
