Just tying yourself up trying to match the sprue pictures up with everything else
That's a very good spot. It does look like there would have to be a variation of the frame with slingers in place of the javelinmen, but the listing does indicate that it's four of the same sprue. This one does seem like a genuine mistake somewhere.

Honestly I built two reasonably-sized forces from about half that box and just chucked the rest on eBay when they announced Waterloo. The supplementary units were too expensive for my taste in ACW, they've learnt from that by launching the subsequent ranges with more plastic
thankfully they discontinued those metal ACW sets and released new plastic sprues of cavalry, zouaves, and skirmishers for ACW. now it's considerably easier/cheaper to have a wide variety of units.

This sprue answers all of my questions.
That Spure for Gallic Infantry wasnt shown on Salute.
Looks like they're prepared for Gallic Wars Setting in the future, or we get Gallo-Celtic Armies (with Chariots?) as a seperate release in the future.
In 225 BC, seven Years before the Second Punic War, the Battle of Telamon happended when Rome faced Gallic Armies in Cisalpine Gaul (Northern Italy), they had Chariots.

This would tip me over the edge to try this game/scale.
I've been wanting to dabble in something completely unrelated to GW/warhammer for a long time now. Even my mega middle earth project is full of warhammer-esque minis. Same for frostgrave, stargrave etc. Theres nothing wrong with any of my other projects but I've really wanted to do something completed detangled from anything to do with warhammer completely and getting older I'm not entirely sure how many more years I have left of painting 6mm scale (and if its not many I need them to finish of the vast array of Epic 40k I still own) so was unwilling to start a historical 6mm period at this point.
I've almost picked up each and every one of warlord games epic games so far, but I've dropped out due to not being sure if its been just been due to new shiny syndrome and not wanted to drop a lot of money on a period/new scale I'd get bored of when I have so much 6mm/28mm to do.
But if this is set up to move into doing Gallic wars then I'd be happy to start with this set and keep on spending till they give us tiny little plastic chariots.

Well said. My friend is so tired of fantasy and sci fi hammer-stuff, he just picked up Team Yankee, which I play, and wants to give this a go so long as he can pilot the elephants :-)

The only Problem is - no Gallic Chariots during the Gallic Wars.
When Caesar invaded Transalpine Gaul, Chariots had been disbanded since c. 30 to 40 Years, based on what Chieftains told him. Would expect Chariots only for the Cisalpine Gauls from Northern Italy in the Period of the Game (Roman Mid Republic) and in Metal or Resin.

I noticed the Roman Cavalry is monopose - like the Cuirassiers from P&S - and has only one Helmet Type. I hope they bring seperate Cavalry with a diversity on Helmet Types and Poses in Metal or Resin.

Apparently next issue of Wargames Illustrated (439 - July) is going to have a free sprue of minis from the set included. Although I am not sure if this extends beyond UK/EU.
I broke down and ordered the boxed set. I've been playing mostly skirmish games the last few years, and think this will be a cool change. Had 6mm versions of the armies years ago that I sold off, this should be a nice replacement.

it should. I'm on the west coast of the States and we had the ECW issue available.

I'm kind of interested but haven't seen any preorders in Australia yet, other than ordering from Warlord directly (which I believe will ship internationally).
Definitely want to see some models in the flesh before I decide on a big purchase though... I'm starting to think I'd get more joy from 3D printed Romans (Cromarty Forge models look really nice).

Have got hold of the new WI mag and it does have the sprue on the front as well as a fair bit of related content in the mag.
Lovely detail on the minis (mine was a pack of 'celt' warriors, apparently there are 5 different sprues available) - looking forward to slapping some paint on them.

Just measuring them now, I will say these are closer to about 13/14mm (to eye), around 15mm if you count hair-dos and spiky bits on helmet. Lovely level of detail but not OTT, I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle speed paints.

I really like the modular design they have done with the ranked Roman units. Gets past that issue that anyone who has painted R&F miniatures will be familiar with, of spending lots of effort on miniatures that you then can't see.
I got elephants with my copy of WI. Then got greedy and grabbed a copy with Romans on it. They took paint nicely and I'm about to start on elephants tonight. I'm glad I ordered the boxset as models look really nice as it is, however the thought of both sides painted and ranked up to play is got me excited. Very nice models and I enjoy Hail Caesar and Black Powder rules as they're fun and perfect for relaxed, enjoyable painting.

It's very tempting for the sheer amount of stuff you get. Too bad my club plays HC in 15mm on 80mm bases and I didn't like how the the epic stuff matched up against it.

it is an impressive box, even at the equally impressive price point
however its already possible to play HC in smaller scales and has been for some time, using models based for the various DBx type games which are also usable in other games
these models are very nice, very nice, the price for what you get is decent too
but its too higher price to drop on a game thats likely not going to be played that often, and will take an age to paint up
its a good effort by Warlord, I'm just not entirely sure what problem for me as a gamer its meant to solve over using the copy of HC I already have with models bought for other games that are perfectly usable for HC as well when using the models this comes with for other games is needlessly complicated by the base size.
had these been on 40mm wide bases it would have been more worth a look as the models really are quite nice, the ACW ones were very good and from what I have seen the Napoleonic ones likewise
I get this is trying to make the actual game, which needs 8'x6' minimum really in 28mm more accessible, but the rulebook already covers how to do that and from the ACW version the core rulebook does a better job of it by scaling everything by the same amount

If this was in 15mm it would be great.
Plastic and dense strips sounds good.
In this scale it's a no from me. I have loads of 15mm historical that I am happy with.
Does historical wargaming really need another scale to split wargamers up even more?
It looks like Warlord are trying hard to make something that's hard to use in other games, and they can feth off with that nonsense.
If I can't use my existing 15mm collection for a historical ruleset then I'm not interested.
