The two character are amazing but very fiddly to build. The viper is very clever, not built it yet but it looks ace.

"Fiddly to build" seems to be the keyword for a lot of kits these days. I keep looking at the 40 Tech-Thralls I need to build, knowing that the first pose is made up of 13 parts...

The Eldar you've painted so far are looking great, btw - any idea if we might be graced with an army shot?

I’ll do one this week I promise.

That is mental especially for a troops kit, I love the poses but with my old eyes and kack handed ness it’s getting a bit much!

Looking good!

How hard do you think it would be to build that vyper with an open gunner? To call back to the old sculpt where they were just hanging out in the breeze?

Man - I was only a little tempted by that pirate box - now I'm more tempted, but honestly don't need to spend $250 on it regardless of 'value' Gah!

I think you do, it’s a gorgeous box set and a “bargain”!

I’ll share the instructions I’m away for a couple of days but it would be possible if I remember right, but might look weird, there’s more internal detail than older eldar kits, like a full cockpit in the front.

Really looking forward to seeing how you paint up the Corsairs. If I'd had time and money I definitely would have picked them up.

Thanks mate, not decided on a scheme yet for them, thinking maybe a primarily yellow as I won’t have that from aspect warriors. Want it to be be pretty vibrant though. Maybe with red bits too.

Here is a shot of the instructions, it could be done, all the detail is there on the gunner but the sides are kind of essential. So might be a. Bit of work.

A few more pics of the vyper turret mid assembly, it could work with just the sides and leave the cowl off, fill the small gap and it would look good.

Coming together nicely.

The long over due army shot, sitting at around 2300 points painted so far, added up my unpainted and that’s over 1000 points, so need to crack on and stop buying stuff until I’ve caught up!

That's a nice group shot, Andy - army photos are tricky to get looking right, aren't they?

Wish I was generally better at photos full stop. Bought a cheap light box bit it is t much better and too small for a full army shot. Most the pleasure for me is setting it all out like the old army shots at the start of white dwarf battle reports. It’s great to see all these laid out. Really motivating me to keep going. Made me 5ish I need another squad of guardians too. More green needed.

Thanks, need a big guy once I’ve got up on my backlog. Was saying to my mate I’d picked the best time to start an eldar army. Lovely model range.

No lie on the timing.
The last few years have been a really good time to have pointy ears. Tons of amazing new plastic kits, that update the classic looks with modern technology and materials.

They’ve really managed to keep what made the original models and designs so appealing and as you say modernise it. The models that really drew me in were the warlocks, guardians and of course the avatar. But the more I get the more impressed I am, I’m building striking scorpions now and that are so cool. The poses and they have managed to get all the aspects feeling connected but distinct.

The falcon really need a retool, the look is great and still stands up after 30 odd years but the molds are not great. I bought an old falcon on sprue from second edition and built it just after building a new wave serpent. The diffence in finish was crazy, the old kit was so much more crisp and defined.

Congratulations on that army Andy because the group shot is fantastic. Really great combo with the main scheme and basing. I think the contrasting scheme with the Avatar really sets it apart as well.

Bases tie it all together. Thanks for the support. Does help keep going doing this on here. And like any army, it’s never finished.

Next unit done, just noticed while uploading the pic that I haven’t painted the little tabs on their armour. Will do that asap. But….

Howling banshees and Jain zar.

Also, like an idiot I built Jain zar and missed off her shoulder pad, which I then threw out with the sprues, I’m looking for a replacement.
