Kind of like the title says. I live in Florida, and it's getting humid and hot; mid to high 80s and generally above 50% humidity. I live in an apartment so I can't spray indoors but have to go out onto the patio. I've been eyeing some of the Army Painter Colored Primers, but I'm not sure if I'm asking for trouble with the weather. The last time I tried to spray something it was with regular Krylon black primer and it fuzzed up, making everything look horrible. Ever since I've used black Gesso to prime, but I'm liking the idea of the colored primers doing most of the basecoat step, just I don't want to ruin models by getting them fuzzy.

Anything I should be aware of for using a primer in this kind of humid environment, or is it just a bad idea all around?

i've never had good luck with sprays during summer in the tropics...
it's the whole reason i had to switch to brush-on primers and varnishes...

if you have a friend with a basement, or a parking garage, that would be the way to go...
if not, airbrush is the best option...
humidity is not your friend when it comes to spray cans...

cheers

Might need to look into an airbrush, been thinking of it for some time now...

If you don't have any alternatives, here's what I'd try.

Do your priming in the early morning or at night so the temps are low as possible. Shake the heck out of the can, and make sure you're shaking it so that the shaker is rolling around the bottom of the can (as opposed to up-and-down). When you spray, make sure you're not holding the can too far away from your surface...that can give the paint extra time to dry in the air before it sticks. Think short, fast sprays maybe a little closer to the surface than normal. As soon as you're done spraying, bring the mini indoors to dry.

And definitely test this out on some scrap before you try it on a valuable miniature.
