I have Mephiston Red. I hate it. Not the tone, but the fact that it is a Base.

I have come to strongly dislike Citadel Bases because they are so darn thick. Yes, they are Bases, but still. I have achieved similar results with just one additional coat from most Layer paints.

So after I'm done with the pot, I want to replace it with a Layer, but which one comes closest to the tone?

Just thin it with water and it will be fine.

Just because it is labeled as a "base paint" doesn't mean you have to only use it as one.
