Hey there everybody I'm just wondering about how I should base my storm wardens I can't seem to be able to decide on a base type and how to do it I could search Google all day but id rather leave it up to you fellow dakkanauts to point me in the right direction
Things you need to know:
They are painted dark blue and dark silver with some gold here and there all in all its a very dark army that needs something to make it pop any help bros?

Black or very dark edge to base and a light base. Depends on the colour of your gaming board but blue and silver sit very nice on sandy/creamy earth colours with a black edging to the base

Inside your mind, corrupting the pathways

Once you go desert, you never go back.

Earth brown base rim, a mix of sand and grit and dust on the base, the odd tuft of brown or dark green spikey static grass.

Should allow your guys to stand out nicely.

Desert bases are great, they also work on your regular green tables depending on how you paint your edge. A black edge helps maintain focus on the figure (or at least that's what many say).

Personally, I base my Cadians with sand. Then, I paint the entirety of the bases Mournfang Brown, shade the sand with Agrax Earthshade, drybrush the sand with Ushabti Bone, and then add bits of static grass. Pretty easy and it makes your models look even better.

Kinda depends on the theme you're looking for. My table is full of forgeworld and gw buildings so most everything i do is an urban base heavy on concrete and dirt. My cadians are grey and black because they are cammo-ed up. Thats the complete opposite of pop, but lends realism. If you want the bases to pop, stay away from the color families you're using for your unit's scheme. Sand has been mentioned, maybe a green forest theme, or snow. It really depends on where you envision them being deployed. Remember painting rule number one: nothing is wrong if YOU like it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! The problem I'm having is that all of my previous armies have been dull primary with a bright secondary to give it pop (iron warriors, doom legion, red scorpions) with my current army it just doesn't stand out I like desert bases but I'm toying with idea of cork on the bases or something to really look great
