What would you think of making orks with personal tele-portas instead of jumppacks. And anyone have bit ideas?

Fluff-wise I don't see any problems - necrons have a unit with something vaguely similar. Makes sense that a mek, while trying to make a powerful teleport device, accidentally invents a not-very-powerful-but-still-useful version instead, and orders his grots to make more. It's then very popular amongst orks with a fear of flying

Model-wise and play-wise, you need something that clearly shows you and your opponent that the model has special equipment (which before games you'd explain that 'this counts as a jump pack', and the most practical solution would a a backpack of some kind. Hmm, or teleporter helmets?

What does a teleporter look like? Well, it needs to look electrical rather than mechanical, but other than that could be anything. Parts of it may be looted from another race's equipment. What bits have you got in bulk in your bits box, or what's your budget for buying more?

From my conversion experience, the biggest issue is: how will you make enough for the entire squad (or multiple squads), all looking recognisably the same but preferably not identical (coz orks don't really mass-produce stuff).

Well the idea that keeps popping in my head is a backpack with tesla coil towers, similar to the kff but smaller, sticking out and still using the arms from the stormboyz that connect to the pack. I would like to get goggled heads, biker or stormboyz.

I like the tesla coil idea. Just have tons of cables and mech bits and bobs.

Hrm, you could use Warp Spider jump packs, but you'd have to orkify them with bits from Mek heads or that KFF backpack (btw all these parts are metal )

You could also strap a Tau Gun Drone onto their backside, though you'd have to add something to it to make it look more ramshackle, the Tau drones have very smooth lines and the orks seem to like to break up smooth surfaces with glyph plates or 'gubbinz' (like engine exhaust pipes and other bitz)

Yes, Tau drones could be a good idea - a suitable size, available easily and cheaply at bits resellers, and fairly easy to kustomise with rivets, wires etc to imply a mek has rejigged the drone anti-grav tech.

You could GK Interceptor Squad backpacks. They have a blue lens thing in the centre and 4 stick-things sticking out of the sides. It literally is a Personal Teleporter array. The Orks could have looted it and konverted it to work propa'! Add orky gubbinz and levers and wires and it should look gopd ^_^

Lots of wires, coils, and all other bits like antenna, ssatalite dishs, leverss, buttons, and dangerous looking powersuppyl added on, long as it looks like it may elecracurte, explode or such its perfect.

Backpacks, drones, anything maybe even one made from a wrecked land speeder or such?

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.
