I just noticed the funniest thing with one of the new Ork models, and I thought that I'd share it.
Nice...skulls you have there. Showing off your manly power.
Hangin' low.
Seriously, did GW intentionally make it look like that or am I just a freak? Everyone else sees it, right?>
Anyway, I made this thread to discuss some of my issues with the "Meganobz/Big Mek in Power Armor" models. I think they are a bit too garish colored, the yellow color makes them look like Tonka toys (Why does GW uglify everything by making it tacky yellow: see Centurions) some of them have hilarious ball-skulls, and also GW has some odd lines in their photos that I find really distracting and I can't tell where they came from.
I invite the mighty Dakka to tell me if I'm off, how Freud would have interpreted those skulls, and where the hell those lines come from on the GW pictures of the Meganobz. Seriously, that distracting line is there on multiple different pictures from their website.

They actually remind me more of Power Loaders from Aliens than Tonka toys...but yeah, the skull-balls are pretty hilarious. Keep in mind this isn't the most serious army out there, and I'm sure some designer had a few giggles over attaching them "down there".

Deff Skullz and Evil Sunz are the two better color schemes for Ork stuff imo. This whole freeboota/bad moonz fixation that GW seems to be in has resulted in their good looking new models having some ugly paint jobs.

As for the line, probably a side effect of the photo booth they made to take pictures of models in, a floor and wall of white, and the line is a join between them, complete with a shadow(?), perhaps from multiple light sources. Not 100% sure on this, but it's my best guess.

actually, the loader looks cooler then those things.
Immediately made me think of this video. Skip to around 2:00 for the relevant part.
As far as the mysterious line, it looks a heck of a lot like they took the pictures on a table and someone got lazy in editing. I don't know the first thing about photo manipulation, so if it's an artifact of some kind of editing process then I could be totally wrong.

^ I was reminded of that part of the movie too. Good stuff.
It may have been funnier to have the skulls attached to one point on the armour, but that may have been pushing it.
Also, I'm now reminded of the crotch cannons from the titans in that one Epic PC game. Never got to play it, but the CD art is telling.
Yes, that line is the edge of the table the models were photographed on.
Also, GW has a long tradition of having decorations dangling between characters' legs. Just look at the DEldar loincloths with their single trailing blades.

There orks, they have a bit of room for fun, and as always the skulls creep in because we all knowgw have a huge skull love going on.
Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

the line isn't a frickin table. It's an intentional gradient that GW has shopped into the exact center of all the new pictures. Look around the shop. You'll see it everywhere, even in pictures where it's obvious that it's made up of several pictures.
Orks are specifically the 40k race that would employ redneck 'truck nutz' on all their vehicles and weapons. If orks were magically transported to earth they would adopt southern culture in an instant.
Probably not, football hooligans generally sneer at Americans like Nazi Science sneers at sanity.

Lol, thats Knob. Nob is a slang term for boss, or someone important.

Probably would start with some cocaine, then asking "Vut ist thiz varhamma and how ist your relationship vith your father?". Something about pushing small plastic army men around in order to fulfill some desire for control over your life or something.
Well, that certainly proves that not even Orks can make trucker balls cool or funny.
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

I still challenge you to talk about Meganobz in public without looks of disdain.

Hmm... Let's see if we can't go further with this...
So, wargaming in general could be a sign of a lack of control in the "Larger World" leading to a need to control this "Smaller World" on the tabletop. Different games, I think, would also signify different things. Warhammer 40K probably suggests a repressed urge for violence, maybe a desire to either conform to or rebel from order? Different armies would mean different things as well. Orks suggest either a self-destructive aspect, desiring things to be able to go wrong even as you control them. Marines suggest a need to fit in. Sisters may be either mysogonistic or feeding a desire to be emasculated. Tau, a fear. Tyrranids, an escape from self-control, desire to have instinct be the determining factor. Necrons determination?
