Did you ever wish you'd kept your higher initiative instead of going for the stronger weapon?

I have yet to come across a situation like this, no. Very rarely in a blue moon, I'll lose a fight before getting to swing because I had lower Initiative, but typically an enemy that does that would have higher Initiative than me anyways, (Bloodthirsters and the like,) or else I wouldn't have been causing damage with the weaker weapon anyways.

Considering my Canoness' power axe or eviscerator is usually the only thing capable of busting 2+ armor, not really. She's tough enough to hang on her own without dying usually.

Yes, way back in a 6th tournament at my store when my Rune Priest was killed trying to kill a Chaos Sorceror.

as orks, sometimes. only against necrons though, and back in 4th where furious charge gave +1 I, meaning a nob would hit with 5 S5 attacks at I4 on the charge, which would usually kill infantry better than a powerklaw, as the klaw may never strike at all.

admittedly nobs have the major advantage of 2 wounds, so can tank a hit and still krump back.

once put a powerfist on a slaanesh lord... ...yeah I never did get the hang or playing chaos...

and (a bit related) once had a great weapon on a skaven lord for ages, finally took something else, checked his initiative for the first time, it was 7. -.-

Eh, I run Guard mostly so the Initiative thing has never been something I've really worried about. If they kill the sergeant with power ax before he hits, that's fine, his remaining thirty squad mates will drown whatever killed him in bodies.

As BA I've hardly ever run an unwieldy weapon, as I hardly ever take my DC. But when I do I generally don't feel like I've missed out as DC tends to annihilate whatever they assault anyway.

Yeah I was always hung up on maintaining that I6 since I already paid for it!

Sometimes, though mostly on csm squad champions who have their special 'challenge everything' rule. Mostly I've quit taking power weapons on them anyway since they have this habit of singling themselves out.

Every time I ran* Repentia. They don't have the armor or toughness to survive long enough to actually swing back.

I've been struggling with this one myself, being a SM player. I see everyone put so much emphasis on PF's but it always seems like I never get to swing with it. And don't get me started on the PA, you might as well pay the extra 10 points for the possible instakill IMO. Everyone argues with me on the PF though so I wonder if I'm just being too conservative?

I understand 100%.

The idea with Unwieldy weapons is you live long enough to swing them, so it makes sense that one wound 3+ save models are a bad choice but do you have to go all out with an EW T5 2+\3++ model ?

There has to be a middle ground.

I generally like unwieldy weapons only when I know that squad has 2 characters in it. Choices are your friends.

I play Necrons, so not sure there is much difference between I2 or I1, if my guy can't survive the hits he's dead anyway. Of course, against another unwieldy weapon I may have been able to kill them first.... but wait, I'm Necrons, if it's not a Warscythe, I wasn't going to kill him anyway.

This kind of an odd question. If you're taking an unwieldy weapon you know you're gonna swing last, so plan for it. Or take the Burning Blade and swing away
