And here's why..
Big Mek with Shokk Gun - 35 $ USD
10 Ork Boys - 30 $ USD
Trukk - 40 $ USD
10 Ork Boys - 30 $ USD
Trukk - 40 $ USD
Mek Gun - 50 $ USD
Mek Gun - 50 $ USD
Mek Gun - 50 $ USD
Mek Gun - 50 $ USD
12 War Bikers - 170 $ USD
-------------------------------------------
500 Points worth of models that is 545 $ USD (Not to include the BRB, Codex, Dice etc. etc. but we all have those problems...)
1 HQ
2 Troops w/ Dedicated Transports
1 Heavy Support Choice
1 Fast Attack Choice
This list isn't even the spam that I would like to run as the fluff for my army since I play Speed Freaks :(
-------------------------------------------
The cost really gets to me sometimes, I do not understand GW's thinking.
A 500 Point game should NOT cost you upwards of 600-700 $USD Just to start into the game.
It's simply out of this world.
-------------------------------------------
Mek Guns equivelant in my eyes currently is each gun worth it's weight equal to a Devastator marine.
Makes perfect sense until you weigh the cost of fielding a set of guns vs one devastator box...
Why didn't they just make each gun shoot profiles that had Blast 4, Heavy, Barrage, Something Else ?
Then make the model 80 points ? With upgrades possible ?
-------------------------------------------
TL ; DR
It makes me really upset that they have killed this codex by taking away things like trukks driving off into the wilderness for fun and replacing them with low points / high COST ($$$) models.

There are many instances of GW inflating the price of their plastic and the entirety of the Resin line is much worse. The Thunderfire Cannon is a good example of "why does this cost that much?!" and the clamshell mono-pose plastic guys are of that example too. So yea, I agree. But luckily most Ork players I know are creative as hell and will make their own, buying just one to create bits from.

Sadly I don't know anyone who does conversions here to even show me where to get the plasticard or anything, and I would need an Orkload of it in no time for this builders league to do what I want.
Tips and gak for converting quick trukks SERIOUSLY welcome.

Toy trucks and paint 'em red? Add plasicard bits to make them Orky. Or buy WWII scale models and Ork them out?

I think these are a good alternative and you get 3 for about the same price as one from GW! (as long as no one cares you aren't fielding GW products)

These? Thankfully they look very kitbashable. There are a lot of third party kits that would serve as a good basis for that, and Orkifying it would be half the fun of playing Orks for me ; ) I got these for ~$5 a piece from the kickstarter for example. Very basic, but with some Orkifying perfectly workable imo. That's not to say the price isn't insane, just that you don't have to (and shouldn't!) encourage it by paying it.

I am glad, on one hand, that they don't base rules on money value of the item overall. It means that they come up with rules that reflect the 'story' behind whatever it is they have made, at least to a degree.
That said, the difference becomes fairly stark when you see examples like this... And is why I think there needs to be a much smaller scale game as a gateway to 40k...

On what a bike?
4+ Armour Save Broski.
Edit** Jink as a whole was nerfed.
I want to field like 12-15 Trukks though hahahahahah
Totally not possible on minimum wage without converting.

Sadly, I think that the Mek guns would have been SOOOO much better if there were 'traditional' ork guns (big shells, loud bangs) that were cheap in points and price, and Big Mek gunz which were expensive in points and price, but which had more of an outsize effect on the game. This would also reflect the conflict between warbosses (who want cheap, reliable, loud, shooty weapons) and meks (who want flash weapons with loads of gubbins and whizzy bits).
If Zzap guns, Kannons, and Lobbas were about $20, and you could field units of 5 of those, that would be cool (and it's not too far from what happened).
Then, the 'big mek gunz' could be large plastic models which were more expensive, but much more useful than those guns. Instead, the big plastic guns are just more shooting, like Kannons and Lobbas. Why are they so much bigger and more expensive, then?
If, for example, the Bubble Chukka actually worked something like the old one (bubbled unit hit by its own shooting, but protected from other shooting), then making it a large, kind-of-singular item would be okay.
If the Smasha Gun actually worked like a lifta-droppa (allowing it to damage the target unit and the unit you dropped it on), it would be okay as a $$ model.
If the "Big Mek Gunz" had been more centerpiece models (kind of like Deathstrike Missile launchers), I don't think the price would have bothered me as much (and, of course, I would have expected them to cost more points, too). Instead, they aren't markedly better than a Lobba or Zzap gun, but cost loads more (and are loads bigger, for no particular reason).
If the Traktor Kannon actually moved models closer to the gun, as well as possibly forcing them to land, it would be okay as a big expensive model.

The worst part is you have to buy each TYPE of gun seperate, it's not even a kit...

Why would you have to jink if no one shoots you? Why would you have to jink if the thing that shoots you doesn't ignore your armor? And even if you jink had to jink, you kills like 2% less marines per point spent that you did with the old rules, plus you can take three more bikes per unit. Bikes got better, not worse.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

Its hard to be awesome, when your playing with little plastic men.
Welcome to Fantasy 40k
If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.
Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

Oh they're hideously expensive.
I mean, the kits are very cool looking, but at the same time are amongst some of the easiest to kitbash from random bitz in the first place. For nearly $50 per gun, I certainly wouldn't be running out to by a set of them, or even just one.
They're only slightly less expensive than something like Forgeworld Heavy Mortarts+ Death Korps crew.

I figure a lot of people will convert/kitbash/scratch build their mek guns. A full battery of 5 guns up here in Canada costs $275. That's way to much maple syrup for me to spend. However, a few bits of tubing some old wheels and a few bitz gets me the same result for a much lower price I was surprised to see the pricing so high on them. GW does realize how much ork players convert and stretch our kits right? There is very little incentives to use the official kits.

Plastruct has a wide range of plasticard, in multiple textures and sizes.
Visit any and all places that sell plastic toys in your area, and look for vehicles that are about 6 1/2 inches long, and about 3-4 inches wide. build them up to make wagons, strip them down to make trukks.

I live in a resort area of NJ south of Atlantic City.
A model truck here is 30+ $ USD.
Might as well buy GW Figs at that rate.
Checked Home Depot, Lowes, Micheals...
Best thing I could find is acrylic sheets for like 5 $ for a piece of paper size sheet but they only sell .050 grade and nothing else.
Not to mention the serious lack of plastic dowels :(
I think either I have to order directly from plastruct or take a road trip to a train shop and pray.
