I am making my own legion of its own. new lord and champions all the good stuff but i have yet to make a god for them to follow. I cant come up with a name meaning progress in a dark industry or just one obsessed with the power of progression. for a csm seems a bit fishy but the with backround I am giving my army it is needed. if anyone can help please reply!!!

Well progression is not far off from change, why not use Tzeentch?

Thank you for the suggestions but XD I wanted help with a new name of a chaos god a whole new one to write up a story I know there are plenty I could put mine with but I want to start a whole new reign of tyranny and conquest xP

Does it have to be a god? What about a chaos warlord who is thinks that he being a god is something attainable by mortals and is on a path of conquest to entranced to godhood through corruption and augmentation?

Right or a greater demon. There are lots of chaos entities people worship who aren't one of the big four. Lesser gods, and demi gods (aka demon princes), and magic superheroes (chaos lords), and even hellbrutes.

You can do an awful lot of writing about cultists worshipping something surprisingly trivial. I give you earthbound's stoic club as an example.

See and with those two left said is that I've been thinking using a daemon prince with others like a counsel and have one believing he is a god and wants to make his place but I still just need help with a good name lol

Just use something greek.

I mean, you go type in "industry" and you get φιλεργία which is "love of work". Split off the "work" part, and you get a greater demon named "Ergon" or "Ergos" and then you add an epithet, and now they worship "Ergon the Sanctimonious" or "Ergos, bringer of perfection."

Type in competition and you get Amillus, Destroyer of Weakness or type in perfect and you get Teleon, Lord of Finality.

Just play around with it, I'm sure you'll find something.

The exact parameters of what makes a "god" is somewhat nuanced.

Daemon Princes are gods of a sort. They cast magic and don't afraid of anything, only to a much lesser extent compared to the "actual" chaos gods.

There are plenty of instances where cultists worship a Daemon Prince rather than a specific chaos god.

There is a heretical cult known as the Logicians who venerate progress, seek to overthrow the strictures of the existing Imperium and Adeptus Mechanicus, and restore mankind to the power it had during the Dark Age of Technology and even, perhaps, higher.

However, they're explicitly not Chaos, as they have no daemonic influence.

Many of my characters know eachother in the fluff through association with the Logicians cult.

Progress? Driving forward to be the best? The drive to be better than others? Perfection?

The link I provided rather explains why it isn't. Slaanesh is the god of experience. The god of more noise. Khorne is the god of what you do. The god of being better than other people.

Which is why khorne is the god of perfection and why eldar, in a bid to be as much like khorne and as little like slaanesh as possible, have the aspect system where they learn how to perfect things.

Perfection is pretty much synonymous with Slaanesh. If someone strives to be the greatest at something, be it art, music or swordsmanship would look to the Dark Prince. Why, there's even been Khornate warriors who strived to be the best at what they do, to the point where nothing else matters, some might say, to an excess, and where exactly does that lead them?

Perfection does not equal excess. Excess is, by it's very definition, not perfect, because it's gone too far.

And slaanesh isn't the chaos god of obsession either. All chaos has that.
