Hey there all, been almost a couple of years. Some may remember me for my dipped Deathguard army, called the STD. It featured a chaos lord, Badgro Inrash and a Rhino that played Staying Alive ( video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYDZxJY2YMI ).

I have started miniatures again, and this time I'm going to be painting for real without dipping. My army will be the Blood Drinkers Space Marines. I decided to give my rusty painting skills a whirl by painting this guy. He probably won't be a part of the army.

I'm currently working on a full NMM Land Raider that will be my entry to the pretty much only national Finnish painting competition, which is held at Ropecon ( an rpg/boardgames sort of convention. ) The competition is in 3 weeks but I might post some images before that. Stay tuned and hope you enjoy.

Ooh! I'm getting Angry Marine vibes from this guy.

I find the blue's a nice contrast to the red without it clashing too much. Also, (and I'm not sure why) this guy looks absolutely FURIOUS!

Very nicely done! Best of luck in the competition!

Thank you for your comment. It's good to know the guy appears furious rather than mellow!

I have just finished painting the Land Raider, now I have a few weeks to do some finishing touches on it and start assembling a Land Speeder Storm.

Thanks a lot for the comments guys, appreciate it. My Land Speeder Storm is soon ready to be posted. Just making some finishing touches.

Edit: here we go.

Once again the camera gave me a hard time by killing off a lot of the red shading. Need to get me a better one. Anyhows, painted without using any sprays aside from the basecoat and no metallics used. Hope you like.

That looks great to me mate. Curious why you left off the other passengers though?

Thanks! To me the 'speeder looks a bit cramped with all the models in, I went for a lighter look. But that's just a matter of taste and style and whatnot.

Cheers. I'm having quite the difficulty of not posting the Land Raider, but I simply can't because of the competition. Next up will be Scouts, or maybe Assault Terminators.

Your stuff is really inspiring. I rarely see reds that look that good, nevermind NMM. Bravo!

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

Thank you mate. Despite what I said earlier I started working on Tactical Marines now.

Here we go, Tactical Squad complete. I managed to paint these guys in 4 days, which is pretty nice considering an armywide painting project. They are of reduced quality compared to other models though - I hate painting Troops.

With the chapter now changed to Red Seraphs ( or Seraphim as I like it better ) you can see the new insignia. Basically it's the BT one but white. In fluff the Red Seraphs use a certain drop pod tactic invented by BT: not much else is known of 'em. Perhaps they have something more to do with BT ( gasp ) who knows? That's up to imagination. I changed the chapter so I have more options when it comes to playing ( chapter tactics. )

I tried to give the squad some personality. One guy is reloading, another shanking someone soon, third one is going akimbo on some poor sod. The sergeant has a greyish unshaven bread going on, just not very visible in the pics. Hope you like. Next up is probably gonna be the new commander of my army, a biker captain.

Very nice work, and bonus points for using all the cool bits on the Tactical Squad kit to inject some character.

The only thing that strikes me is that it might be nice to change the colour of the bolter casings. At the moment, I think the red might be a little too overpowering, so adding a contrasting spot colour (I'm thinking White, to match the heraldry) would make the models pop a bit more.

I decided to make the rims on the shoulderpads golden to add some more diversity. It makes them look more ornate and/or elite so that's cool. New pic in previous post.

Fantastic red shading, very nicely done.

My only critique/quibble with the squad is they seem almost too red. I think black bolter casings and metallic meltagun barrels with some burned metal effects on the meltagun/combimelta would be brilliant on an already beautifully painted squad o marines.

That said, i you're happy with them, stick with what you have. They look excellent and you should be proud of them!

Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Take it easy.

Mini update while working on bigger things. I vastly improved the first miniature ( terminator. ) To be honest I was ashamed of it and it kept bugging me, it was worse in quality than some of my previous works. I guess this was due to the fact its the first mini I painted after my break, and I was a little rusty. Added the new picture to the starting post.

Changelist:

-Repainted 70% of the armour with better shading. Is more visible now ( chest armor top and bottom edges, and the book for example. )
-Made a new base that is in line with the rest of the army.
-Shaded the "book" on the chest armor deeper, it was flat before.
-"Cropped" the eyes better and sharper
-Added purity seals and a skull chain to the waist, where originally the golden chain disappeared into thin air mysteriously... ( seriously what was I thinking. )

In other news, I purchased Centurion Devastators ( around 52€ ) and my Red Maston spray decided to flake all over them. I put them into paint removal, thinking a few drops of acetone won't do anything. Well, brand new Centurions ruined and in the trash now.

Here's the Land Raider, a Dakka Dakka week-early exclusive:

I finished it over a perioid of about 4 weeks. No sprays aside from basecoat used, completely handpainted and shaded. I think it's starting to feature around a hundred handpainted details by now.

-There's battledamage in forms of chinks, cracks and wear.

-The right side has holy scriblings on it, including "Metalus Bawxus Max" in honor of Carron.

-The plate on the bottom of the exhaust says "IWND"

-There's a "hidden" severed Blood Letter head on the grill behind the NMM exhaust with dark blood spatters around it. Guess he got hit by the vehicle, or someone using the pintlemounted Stormbolter was too busy to clean up after himself.

-Hole in the wall next to the Lascannon on the left side. Maybe some 'nid wanted in real bad.

-The roof has red shaded freehand shapes painted onto it that extend at some parts to the sidewalls, along with a golden freehand text saying "Serpens Volans Sanctus." It's supposedly holyspeak for "Holy Flying Snake" ( Seraphs are described in the book of Isaiah as six winged divine serpents. ) Derp. And hence, the vehicle number is 6 as you can see from the roof.

I'm pretty happy with it, I wanted it to look the fluff, as in a revered, holiest of the holy vehicle that is being rigorousy polished with the spit of the Emperor inbetween battles, carrying into battle the finest the Chapter has to offer. But still without going over the top cheesy. I will be making magnetized switchable weaponry for it as time passes.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

Looks solid. Very minor criticism would be the red wings on the winged skull on the side door get lost in the rest of the red. Very, very minor.

Now you need some terminators to get with it.

Really nice work, the red is a really strong colour without being too bright, I think, and the details are crisp and clean. A very nice looking force! I wish I had the patience to keep that level of consistency. My red Tau are all over the place, some edge highlighted, some plain...

rare to see such well painted models...

nice solid evenly coated red (the old games workshop red is hard to get an even coat, unless you're really patient)..

also like how clean and neat your paint job is... keep it up man!
