What does everybody think about camo SM's? I created this chapter that specializes in jungle warfare and people seem to have mixed opinions.

Also, which of these looks best.

I also thought about making camo'd space marines....but it would a pita to paint. It also doesn't seem to fit the style of a space marine....camo on power armor just looked odd to me. In the end, I just chose the default dark green for my Dark Angels, and had a lesser shade of dark green as secondary. Almost like the first pic you have there.

I will forever remain humble because I know I could have less.
I will always be grateful because I remember I've had less.

You know, I don't really look at it as "camo," I guess I should rephrase. They wear those colors to say "we love fighting in jungles, try us" rather than "we will just hide in a bush even though we wear PA"

I do have a chapter backround though. As obvious, they excel at jungle warfare and additionally they have the finest scouts the Adeptus Astartes have seen. Their scouts are a bunch of superhuman boltgun weilding rambos.

I mean, I have more chapter history but it would be far to long to post on here and stuff.

Refusing to use camo seems like a combat disadvantage that would fly in the face of all that experience and tactical acumen that SM are supposed to have.

Speaking of which, what I am going to say relates nicely with this. Many people believe SM's never bother to use cover. That is actually quite false. SM's have learned how to make good and effective use of cover ever since they rose from the ranks of the 10th company. A SM never assumes his PA is all he needs because right when he does, a railgun or gauss cannon smakcs him in the chest and he dies.

Camo would only help SM's, not as well as it would help IG or scouts but it wouldnt be a con either. I just love the idea of jungle fighting SM's.

Feel free to take a look at raptor marines if you ever need inspiration.

My favorite chapter.

your allies need to see you for the gods you are! None of my deities cover themselves in camouflage.

People seem to forget that the astartes are there to inspire allies just as much as they are to install fear in their enemies. You cant do either, hidden away.

EDIT:
I'm not against camo space marines. I just prefer them all prettyfull. I have my guardsmen to be all gritty and scared

But..but...but Space Marines aren't gods... :|

And I never said SM's hide, even when they do wear camo. They just wanna display their strengths. Kinda like Ultramarine and their pretty little scrolls and such

Mine aren't. The Mantis Warriors care not for inspiring the Guard who support them. The fact that most of the enemy resistance has already crumbled in the face of a rapid, untraceable blitz of ambushes and guerilla strikes that have completely undermined their ability to prosecute a war are inspiration enough.

You can also just copy the pre-heresy Night Lords or Raven Guard, both of whom would blend seamlessly in the urban environments of Hive Cities, especially the lower levels.
