Hey
So this is the thing I had Skragg and 6 iton guts charge both failed the charge and ended up getting shot at by these stupid snake things the "Sepulchral Stalkers" Both units droped dead do to their shooting attacks.... "friend had 2 units of 6 Sepulchral Stalkers btw"
So how do I deal with these mofo's? 2 units of 6 and he rolled something like 20 shots it was painful.

Leadbelchers, heavens magic, ironblaster, 'The Maw'? Personally I'm my list I would run my 2 3 man lead belchers to wreck face along with st10 grapeshot boom boom, also I would stick thunder bolt + lightning up their ass
Followed by opening their hirophants mouth, getting him to bite the curb and kicking his skull down so the snakes melted
Ps why are you taking Skragg?!?!

Shoot them back.
You get 8 leadbelchers for every 6 stalkers.
You have a massive range advantage, and don't hurt yourself when you shoot. You're likely to take out half+ of the squad before they get to fire the first time.
8" range on a 7" move isn't that impressive. You should be able to fire once at long, back up and fire again at long, then move up and fire at short, all before the stalkers fire once.
Or, if you're really lucky, he will entomb the 330 point unit in the sand.

Ah yes my leadbelchers I was to busy focusing on skellie hordes "thought they where the threat. Usually being a ogre player not to much scares you melee style so I thought the snakes would maybe take out a ogre 2 max til the counter charge.
I got 2 ironblasters I may have to bring next game for them they will die lol
Oh I used skragg that game because he usually goes 2 catapuls and a casket with mass arrows. So I was hoping to have ambush gorgers from behind while sending a unit of 10 iron guts do a frontal charge.

Wait a minute...
2 units of 6 Stalkers, 6 shots/model on average...so 72 shots. Needing...4's? And then S1 vs I2, so 5+ to wound...That's 10 wounds, or 3 dead Ogres.
How do you deal with the Stalkers? Hope your opponent doesn't roll so good next time.
I want to like them. They're such cool models, with a cool idea behind them...but they're just terrible. Huge foot print, expensive, lackluster in shooting and in combat. Just...meh.

Stalkers auto hit with the gaze/shooting. So 20 wounds, ~7 dead ogres. The snakes are also S5(halberd) and Init 3, so the unit would be dishing out it's 12 attacks before the ogres swing.

It's not a stretch to assume the stalkers would be able to get 2 free rounds of shooting in on the Ogres.
There's nothing from stopping them from coming up out of line of sight, firing, then firing again after the ogres reform.
6 is an absurd amount though, and two units of 6 is a sure sign your friend tailored them in against your ogres. Tailor back!

@HawaiiMatt: that's right! They auto-hit. Forgot about that. Okay. Then I can accept it.
Still, 1 in 6 chance of D3 wounds on something with that price tag? a model that big with 2 attacks? At S4? Then "I instead of T" thing is a cool idea, but it's worse as often as it's better.
I d'know. The Dark Elf Medusa's got a similar thing going on, and I think they got it down better with her.
Maybe they're not horrible. But they are certainly inferior to the Knights.
@Thunderfrog: Sure. I just assumed, given how the OP wrote it, that it all happened in one turn.
So, given that 12 Stalkers = 72 hits = 24 wounds...yeah. Shoot back. I'd also consider Gnoblar tar pits to pin them down.

They are actually pretty good vs. Ogres. Swap I for T (Ogres weakest vs. their strength) and no armor saves and auto hits. The platform is fast and they can move and shoot--well, since they auto hit it doesn't matter if they suffer a penalty to hit since they don't roll one.
You can beat them on points with a large sabertusk pack. They are faster. Have 4 I and about same stats once in combat. But they cost 21 vs. 55.
You can also use a buttload of gnoblars. They'll get shot to pieces, but so what? You'd need a lot though.
Yhettees beat them, but no one is going to take those.
And leadbelchers are a good ranged alternative as stated.

S4, + halberd. S5, and swinging before the ogre. Plus they move faster and swift stride. They are likely to get a shot, and a charge, or two shots.
With 12 S5 attacks, going before ogres, they are a real threat to ogres in combat.
The misfire = D3 wounds is a big drawback through. With 12 shooting, they will average 2 misfires a turn. That's not minor. It's likely to be more losses than can be replaced, as animated constructs are limited to 1 per phase.
This is one of the main reasons why leadbelchers/ironblasters are good choices. You can pretty quickly reduce their effectiveness, and you won't see that significantly improved all game.
Another note about Ironblasters. You use the best characteristic for chariots, so that single Gnoblar crewmen makes the Sepulchral Stalkers need 6's to wound against the chariots init of 3, making it a bit more durable.

I know they're pretty good against Ogres, and I know they've got halberds. It's just...eh. They seem to be decent against certain targets and a straight-up waste against others. They're a niche unit that isn't that great at their niche, given how lackluster they are outside of it.
A big pack of Sabretusks...now that is something I'd like to see.
I would say Leadbelchers are the best option, but Ironblasters and big blocks of Gnoblars would be good choices, too. I think they'd fit an all-comers list better as well.
