Just wondering how many even remotely famous people play 40k.

In the past tall the threads on this topic have only discussed Hollywood Famous people and the like, I like to go beyond that

I know Will Smith and Robin Williams are rumored to have armies, But I'm wondering more than just Hollywood Celebrities

I'm wondering if people know any Youtubers, Voice actors, Politicians, Directors, Musicians, or just ANYONE famous for something who plays 40k or owns a Army.

As far as Youtubers go, Totalbiscuit knows a lot about the 40k universe and probably plays. For example in his "WTF is Space Marine" video he says that if anyone says the chainsword is a ripoff of gears of war, then he "Literally come to your house and beat you to death with a copy of the 5th edition rules". But I have no idea what army he may play

Markiplier also used to know stuff about it, as he has said a few things about in the past in some of his videos

If you know anyone else please post it below!

Not sure about Will Smith, but I thought Vin Diesel collected an army. Blood Angles I think.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Just from a quick google search of dakka. Some are a couple years old but they cover most of the speculation.

Also, YouTube people aren't "famous" (some are probably rather infamous, though). But the usual suspects are: Will Smith, Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, Vin Diesel, two of the guys from My Chemical Romance...I'm drawing a blank on others. But those guys do. And the bassist from Gym Class Heroes is semi-involved: his cousin owns a gamestore, and I frequent it any time I'm in town. A lot of my friends from back home play there (one of my good friends is a co-owner at the store). 20% discount at all times just for joining their email account, and Magic boosters are always 3-for-$10.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

some of them are famous in the Video game industry. Just because you don't think they are doesn't change the fact that they are. (And for the record, I too hate Pewds)

And I thought Vin Diesel was a D&D player, not 40k

I believe Brian May has been known to buy Orks, although I think there was some speculation that it was for his son instead. Still another reason why he's the coolest man alive. Best guitarist of all time, professor of astrophysics, 40k player and general all round legend.

Vin Diesel plays BA, and tried to reserve time in a GW, they wouldn't close for him to play. And I've seen some of the video game YouTube people. Infamous is an appropriate and well deserved term. Most of them are obnoxious.

I met Brian at a Games Day back in the 90s, so he 100% has/had a connection, but couldn't say if it was him or his kids. It was all rushed, as he had to keep moving to avoid getting mobbed, so couldn't get any details.

The artist Damian Hirst has a connection too, although I'm fairly sure that is his children.

Carl Tuttle from the Independent Characters PodCast plays Warhammer 40k. I think.

I also have it on good authority that Kronk Kronkington III has flown in an airplane in first class, and he plays 40k.

Will smith and his son Jayden do play 40k.

Gene Hackman played IG with will smith between takes of the filming of "Enemy of the State" but dropped the game after the movie ended for lack of anyone to play with.

They would use copies of White Dwarf in magazine stacks at various locations in the movie during the shoot on camera that were copies owned by Will Smith.

Robin Williams does play eldar, there is a pic on the internets somewhere of him and someone that in a LGS.

There is a rumor that Marilyn Manson plays tyranids.

There was a metal band in the late 80s/early 90s that had videos on headbangers ball before mtv cancelled that because reality tv sold more advertising space...I digress, the guitarist had a perfect Khorne Skull rune on his guitar. I speculate he enjoyed at least the story of the warhammer-verse, and at this moment I cant recall the band for the life of me. Black guitar, white skull rune.

Robin Williams paints Eldar. No idea if he plays them though there was an occasion he stopped at a store to purchase some.

Boltthrower? Shame they had to change the cover of Slaves to Darkness because of the modern GW IP lawyers.

At the end of Enemy of the State you can see the kid that plays Will Smith's son clearly reading the old free GW catalogue, the one with the WFB 5th Edition Bretonnian on the cover (EDIT) at the end of the film when they are sat on the couch.

There was an interview posted in a similar thread a while back where he mentioned that he collects, but has never actually played the game.

This.

It was confirmed in his AMA on Reddit..

Most of these stories are just rumour or things people would like to be true. I'm sure Tacobell debunked a fair few of them recently.

If you watch battle reports, you have probably seen Starcraft professional player and caster inControl with his Tyranids. He used to play Zerg in Brood War and was a mid-tier fixture in NA events when the regions were more segregated than today. He's still active in Starcraft 2 today and is one of the more well known US players.

Which, as an aside, would probably also debunk the Billy Crystal and Kirten Dunst rumours, since they were supposedly 'introduced' to the game on the sets of movies with Williams. Seems unlikely if he doesn't actually play
