Alright, so i haven't been playing for the majority of 6th edition, and now that 7th is out, I'm ready to play again. Fluff-wise I should be using the Ultramarine Chapter Tactics, but Imperial Fists looks pretty snazzy...

Librarian -

(5) Command Squad - 230
Bikes
5 Grav Guns
2 Storm Shields

(10) Tactical Squad - 205
Combi Plasma
Plasma Gun
Missile Launcher
Rhino

(10) Tactical Squad - 205
Combi Plasma
Plasma Gun
Missile Launcher
Rhino

(10) Tactical Squad - 190
Power Sword
Flamer
Heavy Bolter
Rhino

(5) Tactical Terminators - 230
5 Storm Bolters
4 Power Fists
1 Chain Fist
1 CML

Storm Talon - 140
TL Lascannons

Predator - 115
Lascannon Sponsons

Predator - 115
Lascannon Sponsons

Total - 1500

I want to have enough firepower to disable a few transports and whatnot turn one.

Bikes make mincemeat of Heavy infantry, and should they be out of targets, can always shave a few hull points here and there.

The termies are over-costed and inefficient, i know :(
I love the models much for my own good.
They can run around on a flank harassing troop units with storm bolters and good CC if needed, or i can just drop them in near cover and use them as a unit to draw fire.

Preds stay in the backfield, providing some reliable AT, and the stormtalon is my only hope vs. flyers. I really hate the idea of flyers but i'm pretty sure id be done for without some sort of Anti-Air

Any tactics or critiques would be greatly appreciated

This is supposed to be a more casual list, I only bring flyers cause I know ill get whipped without them, 2 predators because the thought of bringing 1 alone irks me...

IIRC the terminators cost 235.

I say to choose between all of the lascannons. There are too many for some vehicle popping. Better to get some combi meltas on the bikes.

Get rid of the missile launchers. They only slow your unit down, and if that units job is to be a firing line, then dont get rhinos and hang back or get a drop pod and stay where you land. If you destroy all threat to your tanks then sure, you can use missile launchers, but it all depends of who you expect to play against. Guard for instance, will leave you footslogging the field for about 4 or 5 turns, and will leave the missile launchers in a position where you have to go to cover, or stand in the open and shoot everything and get destroyed next turn.

You have good anti- MC with all of the plasma.

TBH all of those grav guns is a bit over kill. They arent good against anything other than marines. So again, tailor your list to popular armies that you will be playing against. Them combined with all of the plasma will definitely kill all marines though.

Im not sold on the storm talon. I think that there are better options than a twin linked lascannon, but if it works well then go ahead. I've never used one myself. If you dont want to get a flier, you could get a hunter for 70 points. But they can only snap fire against ground units. So flies are better in that sense. You could get an ADL but they are easily overrun.

I reckon you could get rid of the combat squad and just get a 8 man bike squad with a MM attack bike and melta bombs and roam around with that. Then if your librarian gets a bike, you could combat squad them. Bikes and terminators are a great combo, and you could get all of the tactical marines to shoot the other flanks to death.

This list should do well as it is against Imperial guard, tyranids, and orks, and Space marines. I just have a problem with the command squad costing too much and doing too little, and the same with the storm talon.

I would get rid of a predator and get a vindicator with extra armor. It provides a str 10 AP 2 large blast that will kill everything. Alternatively, you can get a thunderfire cannon. They can ignore cover, which is something that you have a problem in your list. A vindicator can also crush buildings and damage everyone inside, but it costs a bit more. That is one big thing that I would change. If you do that, then all else should be good. The template tanks just provide a bit of grunt power that I feel this list lacks a bit

Drop the MLs in your Tac Squads, they just slow you down. I wouldn't use a power sword but if you choose to, I'd go Lightning Claw. The Stormtalon should go with Skyhammer MLs, they are better and cheaper at taking out Flyers.

So drop the missile launchers. I guess since they are 15 points a pop now they aren't auto-includes. Dropping the heavy weapons from the tac squads gets me 40 points, and the power weapon brings me to 50 I Believe. I'm wary of throwing the Libby with the command squad as they will be a high priority target. Maybe I can put him in Terminator Armor and keep him with the termites. He would still be at risk however, but arguably safer. With the rest of the points maybe I can throw a combi melts on the one flamer tac squad. Also I could add a couple flamers to the command squad. This would give them more killing power vs horde armies. The only thing I could see being a problem for them is 4+ armor, which the grav guns still kill. 5+ I could switch to bolters and flamers. I'll switch to the skyhammers on the Talon. Your right I don't need the S9 when its job is to hunt flyers .

The list looks versatile to be honest. There are a few points cost issues, like the ML squads as listed are more than 205 but that doesn't matter since you should drop them anyway.

Stormtalon w/skyhammers is best. I don't like predators, but love their shorter range counterpart, the Vindicator. I do however like the idea of taking them in pairs.

The tactical terminators really benefit from Sentinels of Terra Close Range Bolter Drill, and so would the tacs.. I'd maybe consider the change.. But UM CTs are just fine and do mesh well here in some regards.

I like the command squad and think you should definitely keep it. I also like the odd of the Libby in terminator armor because there are so many powers he can go to that can make that unit more threatening. I also like the way this list can out pressure wherever it wants thanks to mobility and deep striking.

So overall I'd say just drop the MLs, change to skyhammers, Libby in termie armor, and drop power weapon from tac squad... Not sure if it all fits I'll have to calculate.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Seems to fit something like this:

Libby - terminator armor, force stave, storm shield
Command Squad - bikes, storm shield x2, grav x5
Terminators (5) - cyclone missile launcher
Tac Squad (10) - rhino, melta, combi-melta
Tac Squad (10) - rhino, melta, combi-melta
Tac Squad (10) - rhino, flamer
Stormtalon - skyhammers
Vindicator
Vindicator

You could certainly replace the Vindicators if you prefer predators, or the melta with plasma if you downgrade the command squad guys with the shields to combis (they'll die first anyway) or something else.

Hope that helps!

I personally like my Sgts in my tacs to be dangerous. Specially if I am running them in a full 10 man. the thought it- he is gonna get into melee MOST of the time. (baring tau and maybe eldar, even then there is a chance) and I also am the player that will charge my tacticals into a weaker foe, and my sgt having a power weapon helps to insure the victory.

now, my FAVORITE power weapon thematically is the power sword or LC, but the one that gives me the best statistically sound advantage is the maul. it can pop most vehicles, and unlike the krak grenade is not 1 shot.
