So you're building a list.
You've got all the basics filled, and you're pretty much happy with it, but you've found that you've got an extra 70 points left over.

What do you use it for?

[For the purposes of this exercise let's assume you've got a single remaining slot open in each FOC category (Troop/Fast/Elite/Heavy/Fort). Additionally, all of your current units are at max, so you can't just add another few models to a unit round out numbers.]

TROOP
• 5 Warriors? (thrown in with no support. It's assumed they'll just wait in reserves and come on later to snag the home objective)
ELITE
• 5 Flayed Ones? (you laugh, but 5 outflanking/deep striking FO coming in late game to grab an unclaimed objective could change the outcome of a match. Could also cause problems for backfield guns, eg. Long Fangs, Artillery, etc.)
FAST
• 5 Scarabs? (fast and easily hidden, could threaten stuff if they sneak their way up the table through terrain)
• 2 Wraiths? (not too threatening on their own, might be able to get them onto an objective without too much notice. Could cause damage if they catch a small squad)
• 3 Tomb Blades? (super fast. Can get to the other side of the table in a turn to grab unclaimed objectives. Not very threatening, low profile target)
• 1 Heavy Destroyer? (very vulnerable by himself, but if you keep him in cover and out of range, his farther shooting high strength low AP gun might save your ass)
HEAVY
• 1 Spyder? (a bit more survivable than most single model necron units, but kinda slow. If he catches anything, they're gonna hurt, though. Plus, maybe something in your list could do with some psychic defense or repair?)
FORT
• Aegis Defense Line with Comms Relay? (a bit of extra protection. Still useful for Cron-Air?)

Which things would be good for what list types?

If there was absolutely no way to free up any more points, then Tomb Blades. Fast objective grabbing or, in the worst cas, cover saves for other troops.

Spyder for me. Spawn 5 Scarab bases and you've doubled your investment. He also provides something of a deterrent to units getting close to your lines with the AP2 attacks (This goes double for vehicles and 2+ save units).

This is probably a cop-out, but I'd lose 20pts somewhere and grab another anni barge

Note to the reader: my username is not arrogance. No, my name is taken from the most excellent of commanders: Lord Castellan Creed, of the Imperial Guar- I mean Astra Militarum - who has a special rule known only as "Tactical Genius"... Although nowhere near as awesome as before, it now allows some cool stuff for the Guar- Astra Militarum - player. FEAR ME AND MY TWO WARLORD TRAITS.

Well, I'd take either Scarabs (if you have enough troops) or Warriors (keeping them in reserve eventually).

More crypteks if they fit. If they don't, scarabs or tomb blades.

Yeah, I think I'm leaning toward Scarbs, with Tomb Blades coming in a close second.

4 sets of mind shackle scarbs on various royalcourt members/overlords for 60pts.

Scarabs all the way. My lists usually have plenty of open fast attack anyways.
Most games, some str 6 weapon will just look at a small group of scarabs funny and they are wiped out. Oh well. It's not a big point investment and that's at least one less weapon going against things I care about.
The real magic happens when there are a few survivors or the enemy just ignores them. There are so many things you can accomplish with just a few of the little guys

Tomb Blades.
But I'm biased, because I bought my first pack of them today and I've spend way too long on assembling the first one.
