Doomsday Arks are pretty expensive at 175 points, but they are cheaper than monoliths. Does the 72" S9 AP1 large blast make them worth it?

Still unsure what army to choose

It all depends what you are doing with your heavy support slots and what kind of antitank do you have in your lists. I personally like them and find that if you have enough vehicles on the board people will often forget about them as they can literally sit in the back corner and be out of sight and still lay waste to all kinds of things from Landraiders to terminator squads. Great board control unit.

If your meta allows ForgeWorld you should first consider Sentry Pylons over Doomsday Arks. Overall the Sentry Pylon is a cheaper (points not dollar-wise) and better unit that overlaps in functionality with the Doomsday Ark .

If FW is a no go then just be careful before taking one in your list. It is probably 50-60 points too expensive for what it does, even if what it does for your list is handy and fulfilling a role. Test it out. There are probably a few lists in which it will shine.

Oh one huge thing that does make them way better and the rest of your army as well and I kind of think is an auto include is the Triarch Stalker so everything is twinlinked.

Doomsday arks are a decent gamble if you don't run a stalker to TL them. The have only one shot of real use that isn't covered by ghost arks and if it misses you might as well have done nothing with them. I'd see them as a win big or lose big type unit. On the plus side to them with the new jink rules they get a 4+ and during the next turn where they can only snap shot you can move them without feeling bad about not being able to fire with them. use them as a fire magnent from wraiths and make it tough for the opponent to focus on one thing at a time.

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

I'd say no.

They were poor before when moving made them shoot worse in order to gain jinx, and they are poorer now that using jinx makes them unable to shoot at all.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

They are too expensive for what they offer. They are not even S10, they cannot move and shoot, they are open-topped and too costly. Don't compare them to monoliths, though, they have a different purpose.

There are some who would consider them the worst unit in the Necron Heavy Support section.
(reasons listed above)

Oh, it definitely is the worst pick in the HS slot, there's no doubt about that.

There is a reason they are "the worst".
They have far more range and AP1.

GW always charges a premium for long range, high strength and good AP. With the range, I could see running one way out on a table end, and threaten side shots.

S9 AP1 has a very real chance at making vehicles explode.
Not a lot can do that from across the table.

I wouldn't bring one to competitive environments, but they are good fun from time to time, especially if your area doesn't have much line of sight blocking terrain. My area is nice enough to let me just proxy a ghost ark for a doomsday arc when I want to bring one.

To me it is in the same category as the triarch stalker. It could be nice to have around, but is too expensive for what it does.

I've decided to take a Triarch Stalker. I think the cheaper cost and ability to twin-link other units makes them far better.

Still unsure what army to choose

Depend of what you're agaisnt
As a SM player, I think they're worth the points as they can instead dead 200 pts worth of centurion in a turn, or any SM squad for that matter.
