It occurred to me I needed an alternative list to my Carcharodons lists that used their FW Chapter Tactics, so I threw this together. I have two tank Chapter Masters escorting the Bike Squads, which can hunt down stuff Grav is good at or pop heavy armor with the MM. TFC takes up a good position and tossing blasts (Pod comes down empty later). 35 Tacticals can be 4-6 Obj. Secured units, along with their Obj. Secured Drop Pods. The Stormtalons clear the skies. Pretty straight-forward list that looks to just overwhelm with 3+ T4 bodies and hunker down on objectives.

Thoughts? Does it look competitive?

Seems pretty decent. I think it could hang in there. You can drop the lone beacon as you don't have any termies and pods land relatively safely in general. Use the points for some melta bombs or something.

Be careful not to isolate your CM squads. While they're tough they can't take on heavy-hitters all by themselves and their squads don't have the CC tools to tear it up. Make sure they support each other.

Cheers.

Would it be worthwhile to ditch some guys to beef up the Biker squads?

I am already giving them CCWs, too, btw. Would it be worth dropping to Captains and adding some more ICs to the squads?

So, an alternative build with an Ironclad.

Any thoughts on that? I had to drop a CM to a Captain for it... worth it?

Hmm I like the first list better honestly, but I like the fact that the second list has the Ironclad (although the load-out I prefer is dual CCW w/heavy flamers).

Perhaps you could put both ICs with a single bike squad, and get 1 or 2 Ironclads in there? The Ironclads could press one side of the field while the dual CM bike unit could press the other?

The Tac squads are nice, the dual stormtalons are ok too. TFCs are always nice, but if it's gonna sit alone in the backfield it will probably be killed by the end of turn 2... you might not want to use it, or else double up on them.

Hope that helps!

I had thought about making one big Bike Squad, but the extra special weapons might be missed. Tough call. One that merits more experimentation.

I only own one TFC and for the price, I have a feeling it will stay that way. At least if I am going to buy an Ironclad, I get a badass looking dread for the price. TFCs are just so expensive!

Anyhow, I will tinker with a single Biker squad list (maybe adding in a Libby for Telepathy). Would net me a few more points to tinker with, but I doubt I could free up enough for a 2nd Ironclad.

Also, for your supplement chapter master, you really should take advantage of the gorgan chain and go with the axe of medusa instead of a TH.

The axe is a great weapon and gives you an extra close combat attack over the hammer.

Alternatively, give one of the chapter masters an On init. weapon. No point having them both swinging at init. 1 and giving yourselves less options.

One of them does have the Gorgon's Chain. The other has the Shield Eternal. Not a bad idea on giving at least one of them an initiative weapon. Can you take two Relics? I thought you weren't able to. The Axe of Medusa does look mighty rough.

The supplement has no restriction on how many relics you can take. It can be argued that standard codex marines can only take 1.

Big brutal dual CM Bike squad along with a lot of the rest of the basics from prior lists. This list can get up to around 13 Objective Secured units or as few as 9, depending on if I combat squad stuff. That is still a good number! And all the Pods have IWND, which is hilarious. I opted out of having the CMs strike before I1, because Thunder Hammers are rough. I did consider one with a Lightning Claw or Power Lance or something, but just couldn't settle. Thoughts on that?

I re-evaluated having Iron Hands as the Allied Detachment, but realized that giving my Bikes the perks of Hit & Run, +1 Jink, and the freebie Dangerous Terrain checks was worth it overall. I still have the rock hard Raukaan tank Chapter Master, plus the White Scars tank CM, and all the bikers with their usual stuff.

Anyhow, thoughts?

I think Hit & Run gives them a nice edge instead of the FNP stuff.
