Has anyone tried running a stupid number of seeker missiles?
Piranhas can pack 10 seekers per fast attack choice (along with 40 S5 shots per slot).
You get 2 per troop transport, and another 6 per heavy.

At 1850, you can get 56 S8 AP3 shots 72", and 212 S5 shots (at 15-18").

Is 56 S8 shots enough of an alpha strike to then deal with having nothing but S5 after?

I know that that kind of firepower will make an greentide cry.

Now have a look at their BS... And how many marker lights you DIDNT take... And why your at it maths hammer the chances of wounding MEQ in cover.. Without the ML you can't afford
Finally work out how many points it took to take that many.. And how many points it can take out..

Come to think of it... It gets even worse... If you've only got.. What? 3 squads of pirhanas that's a lot of overkill into a unit.. Or some of your unit just isn't shooting waiting for next turn to shoot THEIR seekers whilst the other half of their unit sits and waits either out of range or too low strength because of the amount of tanks/ flyers..

That's a lot of wasted firepower into either non-split waiting or overkill to units...
It gets worse when you start rolling 3's like a boss.

Besides all that it would be he least fun ever...
"I rolled mostly 4+ in my first turn, I win"
Or
"I rolled poorly in my fire turn.. Might as well pack up now.."

You shouldn't ever be firing marker lights at a marine in cover, unless they don't have a single vehicle.
That's what 212 S5 shots is for. If they get a full volley off, its 102 S5 hits; killing ~20+ marines a turn.
And the list isn't without marker lights, it's got 6 networked marker lights.
As for overkill, 10 missiles isn't overkill against most targets; 10 is going to pop a Rhino/AV 11 vehicle, maybe get an AV12 vehicle.

"I rolled mostly 4+ in my first turn, I win"
Or
"I rolled poorly in my fire turn.. Might as well pack up now.."

That pretty much describes most games I've seen against Tau, or any army that lacks close combat punch (many IG builds). You could mix it up and reserve a lot of the force (like all the Piranhas).

80-88 points spent on a single shot weapon to take down something a Broadside or two could take down and shoot at something else the next turn.

The only real source of seekers I go with is on Skyrays. It's basically a 67 point tank with two markers and SMS after factoring in the seeker missiles.
That and with the two markers you have a decent chance of firing BS5 seekers, or getting lucking and firing BS4 seekers that ignore cover without having to bother another unit.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

My brother who I play often runs a few Seekers, a couple on a hammerhead and one on his devilfish.

50% of times they do sod all, the other 50% they have wiped out everything from Rhinos to Vindicators with front armour hits.

Skyrays are the best seeker missile platforms. BS 4 and skyfire and it if it doesn't move it can fire them all at once.

Point for point, broadsides are almost the exact same as crisis vs AV11.
Missile pod x2 crisis is scoring 1 hull point per 34.6 points.
Broadside with missile drones is scoring 1 hull point per 33.3 points
Seeker missile is scoring 1 hull point per 24 points.

The seekers have twice the range, and fire at higher effect; but are one shot wonders. The seeker also is scoring a lot more pens, and can engage higher AV more effectively.
But again, 1 shot.

Seeker Swams (taking stupid numbers like 56) might not be good, but ~20 might be.
