Any one else think ratling snipers are a bit creepy looking?

Militarized leprechauns/Yorkshire farmers with sniper rifles

They are the 40K equivalent of the old fantasy Halflings, which are not-hobbits

They do look ... odd.
But, if you start with fantasy and 'modernise' them, you end up with something like the GW Ratlings.
Abhumans were always 'not-quite' IG.

They're sniper hobbits. What happens when you deprive Merry of food and sleep, give him a gun, and have him shoot aliens in a desperate quest for survival on a faraway planet.

Ratlings are neato.

Because lore holds that Ratlings like to eat and feth. Outside of that, you might get them to shoot someone, but they would much rather be fething or eating.

I like the current Ratling a lot. The details on the figures are impressive (I especially like the hidden sack of food one of them has) and their faces ooze character. I had some 3rd edition Ratlings when I first started 40k and really disliked those models. They seemed very simplistic even at the time I purchased them (1999 or so).
