Hi guys,
I was on Dakka previewing the fantastic Tabletop Workshop 28mm Castle series late last year and wanted to show you all the very first finished product. The stand-alone 28mm Watchtower will be released early to mid-August and is now available to pre-order online at http://www.tabletopworkshop.co.uk/tabletopshop/prod_3416641-28mm-Watchtower-PreOrder-Special-Offer.html. Pre-orderers will receive a 15% discount if they order before Sunday 27th July!
The tower is highly detailed, inside and outside and as we're design engineers by trade, we've tried our hardest to design it with wargamers in mind. Follow our advice and glue it into rings, (shown in one of the pictures below) and you'll find you that you can stack these rings. This makes assembling and storing the tower a breeze. Due to the strength of the parts, you won't need to wrap it in cotton wool. In fact, it's more than capable of surviving all the bumps and thumps associated with getting it to games night. Despite the size and stature of the Tower, it's in fact very very light.
We are aiming at offering the world modular castle pieces which can be built together so that wargamers can build a variety of fantastic Castles. For more information about the Castle, have a look at http://www.tabletopworkshop.co.uk/28mm-castle.html
For more information, feel free to post any questions or feedback on here and I'll try my best to get back to you.

We wanted to leave the skulls to you guys!
You can make it as tall as physics will let you H.B.M.C. Just add more of the middle layers and make it grow to the size you want!

When will the Castle be available? I pre- ordered on the not a Kickstarter and I hope to receive it before my 1/2 off coupon expires. I want to receive my castle before ordering any more pieces. My intention is to build a town around the castle.

Ken, The voucher will last till January 2015 and the castle will be out before then. We're hesitant to give a specific date out at this moment and time. Manufacturing capacity in the UK is running at maximum at the moment and we are having to wait for a specific slot to machine and mould each part of the Castle. Because of this we've had problems hitting deadlines so don't want to commit to one!
All we can say is that we email you guys on a monthly basis and those emails will be the place to find out how progress is going

Looks really nice, all of this is going on my "to buy, eventually" list. The £40 for 3 buildings set is really cool, and I think you could probably even sell a £100 village set too.
I keep finding out random things about your terrain that I didn't know, at first glance I didn't know they had interior detail, and its only just today browsing on your site that I realised that the buildings can all be assembled without glue and taken apart to flat-pack store them, with a proper "push then slide to lock" connection mechanism.
Those are some really nice features there.. the clip and lock system for putting them together is brilliant, I'd have loved something like that for my Deadzone terrain to make it easy to take flatpack terrain to a game then assemble it when I get there. Much more practical and simple approach than the fragile connector clips in other plastic terrain.
Anyway, think those are two major selling points that you've got that no other company has, make sure to promote them because it has taken me absolutely ages to notice the fact that they exist.
One thing I'd like to mention as a possible future thing that could be done - Rivers.
Ideally, the best thing would be a well-modelled river bed and banks (mud, sand etc), rather than "sculpted water" which never looks good... here's the pegasus ones which take that approach and look kinda low-quality:
And then, on top of that river bed, people could add their own water effects water once it has been painted.

Hi Scarlet, we're still trying to push the little things like that which make our scenery stand out! In fact, the reason we think we stand out in a crowded market is due to the interactivity of our terrain. Figures can be stationed inside of our terrain and attack through windows or arrow slot. The roof can be take off so these figures can be controlled during the game. Going forward, we're really going to have to hammer these points into you guys!
As for the clip and lock system, we've used these on all of our products. We find there are many challenges with disassembling, storing and moving wargame scenery and this seems to solve those challenges!
Your comment on rivers is an interesting one because we've recently discussed these as one of our next possible ideas and they are certainly on our to-do list. It's nice to be on the same wavelength as others in the Wargaming Community!
Overall, thanks for your feedback. You've raised some excellent points!

That was a typing error. The offer is actually valid until this Sunday! (Sunday 27th July)

Sorry you feel that way Lord Blackfang, if you feel that the product is overpriced then that is your opinion.
What we can assure you is that the product is of good quality. Thick plastic, detailed texture and fully modular. We've spent a lot of time trying to perfect this tower for every wargamer in every way possible. I just wish you could see our product in the flesh first before writing it off as budget quality!

I stated the same opinion when you released the cottage. The price of that seems to have gone down since then, so I guess I was right?
I don't doubt the quality of the material. We could talk about the details though. I could make pretty much the same thing by just rolling a sheet of brick texture plasticard into a tube. It looks like there isn't even any variation in the bricks, you just copy/pasted one over and over. Your kit looks like a DIY kit that will take hours of detailing to make it look good, not a finished premium product, but you priced it like the latter.
My opinion.

I also thought the buildings looked kinda "meh" but I saw them in person via several vendors at Historicon this past weekend as was pleasantly proven wrong. The Merchant's House especially was fantastic.

How did you think they rated compared to something like an Armorcast kit? Are the walls textured? They appear a bit flat, but that can be hard to tell from just a photograph.
I'm guessing plastic is probably more durable and easier to transport.

I own about 20 of the resin armorcast buildings, and while I love them, every single one has had to be reglued at some point. They are not durable, but they were the only option at the time when I bought them (ten years ago?)
I wouldn't *replace* my Armorcast buildings, but I would have no problem (and I believe I am going to) adding the Tabletop Workshop buildings to my Armorcast buildings, especially as I have the Games And Gears medieval cityscape battle boards coming to me soon and I'll need more medieval city buildings.

Happy to prove you wrong judgedoug! In all seriousness, we've had a few people who've said similar to you have. Hopefully, as we get our buildings in more of these vendors and more of these stores, more people can get them into their hands. There is only so much you can show through pictures!

Yup, I'm definitely going to order a few in the next month or so (when I recover from Historicon, haha)

Yes Azazelx, I'd imagine we'll be looking to get the 28mm Watchtower into the hands of our Wholesalers and Retailers in the next few weeks.
For anyone interested in seeing what our kits can do in terms of heights with the modular levels. Here is a short tower and a stacked tall tower. Now imagine an outer short wall on a fortification, and a huge fantasy type tower.....and all our walls will stack in the same way. At this height, the tower is still as solid as a rock - no wobble at all. We could probably double it's height again before it becomes unstable.
