So made me a squad of LotD marines out of some DV tacticals. They came out nicely if I may so myself

This would be great if the fire didn't look like hair.

You are the first one to make that connection. Congrats, you win a cookie for being special.

I think BrotherOfBone is watching too much Dragonball Z!

These look great, masquerade81 both in the conversion and the paint work. It definitely beats paying the price for actual LotD models.

The "actual flames" effect isn't really my thing, but it still looks good, especially with the excellent OSL.

Very nice! I recently did some of these myself, and went for more bone rather than flame, this is a different take but a very good one. The OSL is very nice!

Indeed. If we all played the same models it's be a boring hobby

Out of interest, as I have another squad to do, how did you do the flames? I imagine green stuff, but what tools/process did you use?

Just glue a ball of GS to the model and then use tweasers to pull it until you are happy with the result. There was a tutorial for it in youtube.

Cool, thanks, I hadn't thought of doing it like that. I might give it a shot on my next squad.

This is awesome. Doesn't look like hair. I might have to steal the idea.

I like it, but think the flames need abit more red to offer more depth.

the red tips don't come out as good in the picture as in real life. These are phone camera photos, so can't expect much :(

I think you could certainly start the flames blue in the deep recesses, and use a combo of white, yellow, orange, and red to flesh them out more if you wanted to. That being said, they look good!

And Dragon Ball Z hair looks more like flames than these flames look like hair...Anime is weird though so ignore anime when it comes to hair.

Very nice, now I'm sorely temped to do something similar! I actually just came across this tutorial recently as well, maybe you could give it a go if you're planning on making more:
