Norn Iron

Hello! Since I stopped lurking and started posting more regularly on Dakka, I guess I'd better post up an introduction.

My name's Warren, an occasional gamer from Northern Ireland. And no, I don't have anything to do with Beasts of War.

Gaming wise, I became disgruntled with GW and quit 40K and FB a long time ago; although I'm still interested in the background and in what the company is doing (partly car-crash rubbernecking, partly wondering if prices on their admittedly pretty good minis will ever come down), and I still have a bunch of their minis that I plan to pressgang into other game rules: skaven, tyranids, and a few handfuls of orks, kroot and ogres. Not to mention some bits and pieces for Epic and Warmaster.
Otherwise, for sci-fi and fantasy I have a couple of Dystopian Wars fleets (in drydock for now!), some odds and ends (notably a few Heresy Miniatures troopers, in anticipation of plastic versions somewhere down the line, and a half-built Bloodbowl Nippon team culled from different manufacturers) and I recently had a demo game of Infinity, which quite impressed me. Should get something for that, soon.

I also got into historical gaming after drifting off from GW. Currently I have burgeoning armies of 1/72 WWII germans, 28mm ECW scots covenanters, 28mm Marlburian brits, and 15mm Napoleonic brits. (The latter for a Waterloo game next year) I also have a strong interest in the dark ages/early medieval period, but don't currently have any minis or armies for that.

I like picking out an occasional interesting miniature and trying to see how well I can paint it, but on the hobby side of things my abiding interest is in sculpting and converting. I run a small web forum on the subject, and I'm fortunate enough to have one or two minis 'out there' - like the professor at Hasslefree and the halfling traveller at Troll Forged - but unfortunately a lot more sitting unfinished on my table. I'm especially interested in creature or monster design, within and outside the miniature wargaming hobby, and I can be pretty opinionated on that and other subjects. Anyone who knows me from other forums should know that. But I'm not here to bicker and fight; I'm here to hopefully be productive, and have a little fun too.

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
