Right, the models below were actually in the blog thread but since I have finished them already, I might as well move them here. Basic steel legion theme but with UN style helmets for the infantry. Something about blue and khaki feels nice.... Anyway, the theme is supposed to be factory fresh troops which are geared towards "peacekeeping" rather than the actual frontline, hence the relatively clean tanks. I do have some surplus special weapons/lascannon teams, 2 demolisher type tanks and 2 wyverns/hydras in boxes hanging about and will finish them in due time. The plan is to have 2 wyverns and maybe 2 punishers with heavy bolters at the end but maybe I'll detour and put in some desert themed Scions/stormtroopers because I do need some emergency AT/AI.

Comments and criticism welcome. My old and first painted squad ever is also shown because I stumbled on it while rummaging through my pile-o-stuff. That squad was done exactly 10 years ago (I am 20 now, so not technically a dinosaur yet). I have progressively learned how to paint throughout the 10 odd years and have switched between 40k, FOW, DZC, Warmachine and so on but this is my most recent painted models. I would be interested to receive constructive criticism in order to get better. All the vehicles shown were completed in exactly a week but the infantry took about 3 weeks due to my internship.

Thanks and enjoy.

Understandably, the basing needs to get better though I'll be honest, I hate basing . Work on the flash could be better and I definitely need a proper camera. Apologies for the shoddy pictures but I hope the main details can still be picked out. I'm on the fence about the wear and tear on the vehicles and haven't really decided whether I do want to dirty up the clean tanks :( I think the typhus corrosion application needs practice since I haven't used it before until now and before anyone asks, I do not have an airbrush (broke after the vehicles).

I don´t really dig the Steel Legion Minis in general but you really made them look awesome! The white-blue touch is a neat idea.

Btw I´ve got the same mousepad xD

Excellent work. Wish I had the steel to finish my 165 Steel Legion Infantry and 15 tanks. Currently I've finished one trooper and one Chimera. Faaaaaaaaaaaail.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I do wish the steel legion models had more detail and/or became a plastic kit. The metal ones I had ordered were less than ideal in quality or that I got too used to the high detail plastic already. Too bad though, I've always liked the models but painting them could have been better if I had options to change their weapon loadouts without heavy conversion.

Yes, the mousepad is awesome : D

Why do I love those blue helmets so much?

Nice work on the tanks, too. If I might suggest, you could consider doing some sponging on them to make them a little grittier, or doing some other stuff to continue to weather them some more.

Anyways, great work.

I love it! Love the Armageddon Steel Legion. I also like you didn't go with the conventional Steel Legion camo on the tanks! Good Job brotha!

I wish someone would come with more updated sculpts (GW, Victoria Minis, Kromlech, Maxmini, etc). If GW would come out with a plastic sprue for them they would make a killing in sales. I know I would be buying 20 boxes of them.

If Geedubs released steel legion multi-part plastic kits, the world would stop. Sadly, the probability of that happening is close to 0. :(

Nice and crisp paintwork!

There is although a few mould lines, mainly on the exterminators, and I personally feel that the tanks is a bit to clean. The streaking looks good, but a good chipping would really lift them!

With that said, I really like them and can imagine them storming over Armageddons ash fields!

Stick around guys, if the plan goes alright, I'll have 2 wyverns completed by next week. After that... do you want me to do 2 more punishers/HB sponsons or an eldar detachment?

The reason being I haven't found a decent anti MC beatstick who would be a bigger gun magnet than any of my tanks. So, I've been toying with the idea of having a small mech eldar detachment consisting of maybe a wave serpent and a wraithknight with some 5-6 men inbetween.

Question is, would a paint scheme following my current unit (Khaki + blue) suit the eldar detachment? The theme is still "peacekeepers" so AM working with some eldar in a joint "peacekeeping" role seems plausible.Who are we keeping the peace against you ask? Why, it's the nids. No one likes the nids

Mmm... pass.

Not even the UN has uniform camoflage regimes (NATO even struggles with this, and they're theoretically all part of the same giant army).

If you want to keep blue as a peacekeeping theme, I might see a falcon painted up with then a blue stripe added to one of its prongs or something, as kind of a badge to show which side they're on, but I can't imagine eldar re-painting an entire vehicle just so that it matches their temporary guard ally's color scheme.

Fair enough. I'll try a non related scheme for the eldar detachment then. Maybe bone and light blue.

Well, it's a new take on eldar for me. Tip: buy a smaller eldar vehicle and try the scheme on!

I don't think the Eldar allies would be a good idea with that colour and the idea of AM helping Eldar is a bit odd to my ears if somewhat plausible. I'd personally use the money for the Eldar on things like more tanks (Steel Legion, after all) or HQs and Elites.

Sorry for the late updates guys, what with work and all... Anyway, 2 Wyverns are almost done (4 crewmen and tracks) and ready to go. There should be pics and an update by the end of the week. I ain't dead yet

I really like the blue and white stripes on both the infantry helmets and the tanks. It's a nice detail that unites the army visually, and the execution is really crisp. That's a great looking force there.

Haha, thread resurrection.

These are the last 2 Wyverns of the company which I was supposed to post a few months back. I had reasons for the late completion but they were done before I had left the country for university. The paint job on the infantry is not as good as the steel legion units and could definitely be improved. Somehow, I didn't have the same drive as when I started the project so it could be that I just burned out on it - which really explains the lack of effort in the crew. However, I believe that the tank as a whole turned out good but I will never do another Wyvern again as it takes up way too much of my time.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The model itself is very nice but the end product is rather flimsy and I suspect that with use, the model will definitely fall apart. As you can see, the joints holding the cannons into place started to show some plastic deformation. Not very good for long term use. Also, I have magnetised the long barrels so that the model can be swapped for a hydra or Wyvern if necessary.

Liking the look on your army, painting clean, good choose of colors. The only problem is with the blue helmets all I can see is UN Peacekeepers.
