So I've been working on some Black Legion models lately and have taken a liking to the pre-heresy look, and would like to reflect that in my army with FW parts converted to Chaos. The Sons of Horus parts, particularly the heads, torsos, and Reaver squads, definitely got a lot going for them but they're missing a lot of the trim that I like on my guys. Anyone got any advice on how to convert these to look more Chaos-y? Example photos would be greatly appreciated as well. I've got a pretty ambitious undertaking I'm looking at, so any advice would help.

Well if you want typical chaos details like those armor trims and arrow decoration there is no other way than to go the GS route. Otherwise you could add stuff like skull tropies and other chaos marine bitz like horns and spikes. And if you are more of a painter, then you could try and freehand chaos runes and icons, as well as adding blood splatters and combat damage.

But should you try it with GS you have to invest a lot of time. Especially if you aren't experienced with sculpting. But if you have the time you can go mad-bonkers like I often do. (Here are a few examples ...)
Spoiler:
First and third once where DV marines and the middle one is an example of loyalist shoulders converted to chaos.
