Loving the look of my Exo Titan, murder bot 9000 is a go, the missions are tons of fun and the play is smooth. So much fun!

Edit: more to the point! You gonna get it? what class you playing and why? Anyone wana play some tonight?

Depending on cost of the xbox one, i'll be getting Destiny. I'm a Halo fan so MCC will be a purchase as well. This will be the first time i buy a console this early. It's just i have Live friends all getting it and slowly making the move to xb1. It's kinda annoying as i'd prefer a PS4. The 360 is such a bad console, but Halo....

Anyhow, you're on PS i guess?

I've not seen any footage from the beta yet, but will watch some soon. Have been reading reviews a bit.

Were/ are you a Halo player? How does it compare?
Isit a "fun" game, in the sense of saying out loud, "oh wow, that's cool"
Does it carry the addictive "must progress" MMO style?

Any other thoughts?

Frankly it doesn't sound very interesting from what I have read and if it doesn't get a PC release there is no chance that I will even give it a cursory glance.

From what I've seen it plays almost exactly like a single player FPS for the most part, which is nice. Once you start getting to the story elements and the multiplayer portions you start to see the MMO side of things.

Played a bit over at a friend's, pretty decent graphics, nothing like Halo so stop making the comparison, otherwise you'll be disappointed. Gameplay is tight, few glitches here and there but it's a beta, but overall I had a good time.

PC, Xbone, 360, PS3, and PS4 are slated as the release platforms for Destiny as far as what I've read.

It feels very Halo 3 to me in the exploration parts. I was slumming around with my brother, murdering enemies and found that some platforming would get me to a loot chest (I felt like I was going for skulls again.) I loved halo until the most recent game.

Halo 3 is my favorite still and this has a lot of old Halo feels to me, its faster paced and built more like an MMO, it does have the progression desire. We hit the level cap for the beta in the first night, we still run the characters to explore places, do missions and try to find new/better loot (because your in game gear follows you into multiplayer) and trying to unlock upgrades for our guardians.

Its very fun, I have been disappointed with games for a while now, none of them giving me much of a Wide eye "wow" factor, Destiny gave that back. The first time we were in an open area and an event popped up? or when we first ran into the Hive it was captivating, and so much fun to run through and explore or do missions.

The game handles like most FPS would, however it adds more of a needed team play aspect, which is something I love. There is no way I can do Daily events alone, and it would be very hard to do level specific quests by yourself, not impossible but hard. so it has a great mix of MMO and FPS in my opinion, PS4 was my console choice and I cannot wait till the full game drops, its just Fantastic!

There has been no confirmed PC release. Although its possible that it will show up eventually it may not, neither of the last 2 Halo games have had PC releases. Either way it just doesn't look that interesting.

There have been some rumors of late that a later PC release is planned for Q1 2015.

Destiny PC Release Date On March 2015? Alleged Steam Database Entry Confirms The Next-Gen Game Is Going To The Platform!

The Destiny PC release date may have been revealed while some gamers found the game on the Steam Database giving credence to the fact that Destiny is coming to PC.

According to Cyberland, A user at NEOGAF has posted pictures of the Destiny PC version on the Steam Database. According to the Destiny PC steam database entry, the Destiny PC release date is tentatively set on March 2015.

his revelation comes after the fact that Activision CEO Erik Hirshberg has admitted that the company is looking into Destiny for PC.

In an interview with Polygon, Activision CEO Erik Hirshberg admitted that Destiny PC is a good idea and is it something that he considered as a good fit:

"It is [a good fit], and it's something we're talking about and looking at very carefully, and obviously it makes a lot of sense with the genre and the type of game it is. Again, no announcements, but it's something that's a heavy point of discussion. And you asked how are we dealing with the complexity of developing for so many platforms, how about one more on top of that?"

"You know, developing on PC is a different animal than developing for consoles and so we just want to make sure that we're putting one foot in front of the other and getting it right, and that it's of the highest possible quality. But obviously I see the same things about the natural fit."

The Destiny PC release date is tentatively set for March 2015 while Destiny would be released on consoles on September 9 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One

Meh, I've looked a bit more at streams of it. It looks like borderlands without the humor and Halo's graphic style.

I'll pass.

And the delayed pc release means I probably wouldn't care about the game anyway by the time it came out on there.

The only bright side of a delayed PC release is that we'll all have a general idea what we're getting before the launch.

Shame about the second DLC being PS4 exclusive for an entire year.

I mean really? Would anyone be surprised if he announced that he was holding the world for ransom and wanted $1,000,000,000?

Not to rain on your parade, but that seems like a very bad idea. I can't remember the last online game launch that wasn't plagued by server issues.

I played it for a bit, it's pretty decent. I love the actual gameplay (controls are extremely tight and the powers are a ton of fun to play with), but it feels like it's going to get repetitive really fast - most of the missions boil down to "Go to X location, use Ghost, fight enemies, extract." There just isn't a whole lot of variety in what you do from level to level to keep it interesting.

I'll consider picking it up at launch, but I'm not going to pre-order it. It looks like it has a lot of potential, because the gameplay is really strong, it's just got some issues in the other elements that make me a little wary.

Eh doesn't matter. It's paid time off and I have to use it anyways. If the servers are down then I'll do something else.

Bringing this back up to see if folks have additional thoughts after the completely open beta test this weekend?

I was very disappointed in the games appearance. Comparing it mostly to Titanfall, and playing on the Xbox 360.

This was my impression, as well, except for loving the gameplay. As you say, I felt like it was going to get repetitive really fast... it felt like playing the original Halo in 2001. Which granted, at the time was awesome. But the other Halo games have progressed since then... an easy way to compare is to actually play Halo Anniversary and then a newer title. And comparing it to the gameplay of Titanfall makes it feel like you're walking through mud when playing Destiny...

Finally, the MMO aspects, as implemented, did not seem well done and have very little draw for me. Perhaps there's something I'm missing, and I'm sure the deeper you get into it that aspect would help with immersion... but this game felt like a step backward and a marrying of two genres that don't necessarily fit together well, to me. I also don't know how well the Bungie crew can handle an MMO, especially when what I would've thought would be their forte (visuals and gameplay) left me feeling unimpressed.

Definitely a title I will skip, although I was glad to try the beta for free to see it in-person.

Matchmaking seemed iffy to me. A lot like COD it felt. While i loved COD4 multiplayer, Destiny seemed meh. Poor maps that i played and boring jetbikes. If it ain't Halo, then ya know..

But the mmo side, loved it. Cool bosses with a killer soundtrack. Random enemies to kill and stuff to explore was fun.

While i do see several limitations, i've not properly enjoyed and had a game appeal to me for a long time. I've tried multiple demos, tried Oblivion, but all had stuff i disliked which took me away from the experience. Destiny hadn't got anything truly annoying about it (except multiplayer).

Not pre-ordered it, but i will get it on release.

I can see why others wouldn't like it, but it ticks boxes for me. I'm not into pretty graphics, just good gameplay and soundtrack. I will happily buy a game with a 3 to 10 hour campaigne, it just needs to be good. eg. MGS1. 3 hours, lots of fun!

Not according to the experts:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-titanfall-xbox-360-tech-interview

Titanfall looks so much better than it has any right to on the 360! Destiny, not so much. The poor gameplay is the bigger concern, but they shouldn't offer it on the 360 if they're not going to put in the work that Respawn did to make Titanfall look and play in such stellar fashion on it (Titanfall even achieves a high frame rate in addition to looking awesome).

It's a competently made but entirely by the numbers shooter with some tacked-on rather generic pseudo-magic abilities for characters that are too restrictive to be very fun.

Definitely not a day 1 purchase. Maybe after a few years when there is more content for it but until then? Meh. I was disappointed.

I tried the beta, it was fun and looked great and I totally intend to steal the oldtimey but still high tech looking starmap idea for a future project of mine.. but I didn't know it was a MMO kind of game, I was hoping for more of a single player game. I'll probably be too busy to get into a new lifesucker in september so I'll probably have to wait a few months to pick up the final game.
