Hi all, been a while since I made or painted much but I have recently started working on a small Thousand Sons/Necrons force. Currently I am looking for a good HQ figure. I love the idea of fielding Ahriman but his model looks soooo dated. Any ideas on conversions? Other Ahrimans you have seen around the web?

So far I have been toying with the idea of taking the Dark Apostle figure and adding the Tzeench marine head (with the 4 horns) as well as a staff. The books seem very appropriate.

Here's my Ahriman (sorry for the fuzzy picture):

Of course, it's the original model but I feel like changing the pose and arms made a huge difference.

The Dark Apostle idea you have seems like it would work quite well. Don't forget that the plastic Chaos characters from Fantasy have cool looking staves.

Very nice conversion, he looks great! Where did the hand/arm come from?

Right arm: Dark Vengeance Librarian casting hand, Dark Vengeance Power Axe Chosen's arm and shoulder pad.

Left arm: Plastic Chaos Raptor left arm (for holding special gun), Plastic Herald of Tzeentch/Exalted Flamer kit staff.

For me ahriman needs a robe. So the dark apostle wouldn't be my model of choice. If you want a different model why not use this one? http://www.games-workshop.com/de-DE/Hexer-der-Chaos-Space-Marines
You can swap out the head like you planed and replace the sword with a staff made from fantasy bitz. His backpack is also a think to keep in mind If you give him a special one he will stand out even further.

You could also use other robed bodies from dark angels or other chapters/3rd party bitz. This way would require more conversion though.

I heavily converted my ahriman from normal marine parts and a lot of sculpting. But I still need a fitting backpack.
