So, I want to field DA vets because I love the idea behind them, and the fluff makes them so much more badass than sternguard/vanguard,what is the most competitive way to field them?

yeah, I have command squads. just wondered about the vets. would kitting them for CC be worth it?

Whatever you do don't dump a lot of points into them. They're still plain marines with a 3+ save (albeit higher Ld and A).

You could do a lightly CC kitted version and throw them in a LR with Ezekiel for a mild buff. They won't pull off any miracles but could bully weaker units around.

I think 5 with 3 Plas or melta and a pfg libby for prescience in a pod is a good idea.

USA

I would treat them as Sternguard; kit them appropriately for what you want them to accomplish and expect them to die.
