So I like the Adeptus Mechanicus, as I'm sure we all do. Which is why I'd like to make this thread a discussion about the Adeptus Mechanicus and why they have not made it to the tabletop. I wouldn't mind some Ad Mech general as well, but I'm mostly interested in hearing about the Adeptus Mechanicus and why/why not it should be/hasn't been adapted into a codex yet. I'm more than happy to listen to anyone who has any actual insight into GW's business decisions relative to this. To kick things off, I'll open a poll asking what your position would be if an Ad Mech codex were actually released.

Their release schedule seems to hinder anything new.

Duel kits
Tiny rule sections
Mostly recycled fluff
Limited posability

All those seem like it would make a new model line a nightmare to create. I think they are spending too little time on too many things and we dont end up getting full potential items because they are worried about some other unknown thing.

All these limitations would probably result (if it were to be done) in 2 units that are duel kits with lack of posses, a few pages of rules and those models would have to somehow be usable in more than a few other codices.

Which could be done, but I wouldnt want to be the guy creating a new model line with those limitations.

In short, their recent releases, at least to me, have shown that its too hard to create new things in the current system GW does things. If that makes sense.

Here's why I personally think it shouldn't have a codex:

It doesn't go to war as its own army.

I like GW's current system of having Techpriests within Imperial Guard and Space Marine armies. If people really want more exposure for the Mechanicum, GW should add more Mechanicum options within existing Imperial codexes, instead of adding new ones.

No option for "I'd decide once I saw the models"? If it were done to my tastes I would definitely be interested. If not...myeh.

Because nobody who would buy the models is just going to magically do so without deciding. Your answer is "I don't know" which I'm not sure about as a poll option. I'm not sure if any of us really know what we would do in this hypothetical situation. I myself wouldn't buy any of it, but still want to see it happen. Then again, I'm not dead set against it, it's not beyond the realm of possibility for such a release to actually woo me into investing into it as a second army. So yeah, in that way, none of us know. Just try to guess what it's going to be like and then decide based on that.

"I'm making them my new army"

I mean that literally, collecting the FW stuff. There's not a complete codex out yet but the list in HH3 is pretty good and the models are awesome. Some people might complain about using them against 40K lists but then some people complain that GK/Eldar etc etc are too powerful.....

That's my position, too. It shouldn't effect the poll though since I'm keeping motive and reason out of it for the sake of efficiency. It's purely an action based poll, and I voted "I'm not buying any". Even though I'm obviously a fan and like to fantasize about it.

I put not interested as FW already is kind of taking care of the Mechanicus and the fact we already have so many Imperial Factions/Codexs out there. If they are going to make a new supplement or Codex either a completely new Xenos race or a Kroot one for example would get my vote.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

Just because it's Imperial doesn't mean it's going to feel like the other armies. In fact, the Mechanicus is probably the most unique-looking organization in the Imperium. Are you referring to fluff?

Ad mech would be great but a lot about GWs practices would have to change before I considered it a good product I imagine so no purchase here just yet I imagine.

I'd like to see it at least have the inquistor treatment. By that i mean they can be taken as elite units that can plug into a current army. So skittari, praetorians, and maybe some heavy stuff like a dual kit tank type unit and a dual kit robot (or just use knights) very simple and they can release models over time

17,000 points (Valhallan)
10,000 points
6,000 points (Order of Our Martyred Lady)
Proud Countess of House Terryn hosting 7 Knights, 2 Dominus Knights, and 8 Armigers
Stormcast Eternals: 7,000 points

I've always wanted an official army, and I currently cite it as an 'army' I collect when I list my 7. I always end the list with the Mechanicus, and people instantly know it's unofficial and say "Yeah I wish a codex would come out.", then we just chat about the models I have for it.

Basically it's the complete Skulz Adeptus Mechanicus set, a bunch of vintage Servitors I've managed to get over the years, various Techmarines that have come out and been discontinued over the years, and models from third-party companies, etc.

I'm considering buying Forge World models, but they're expensive and I'll be honest, I don't like the aesthetics. So much potential, I don't know why Forge World keeps dropping the ball with the Mechanicus stuff (imo).

I think they're just following the basic theme for 30 v. 40k. 40k is supposed to look overly gothic and angular. 30k is supposed to be what 40k looks like trying to be a bit more realistic but still with a long ways to go.
