I'm considering scratch building some kannons for my orks. But it's my first scratch build and I'm unsure of myself, also I can't seem to find greenstuff or plasticard anywhere locally. I'd really appreciate any advice or links to relevant information. Also I wouldn't turn down more general scratch building advice or other big gun options.

I'm presuming you don't have a nice full bits box to scavenge cannon-looking bits from. I've used things like WHFB dwarf cannons before, with orky details added of course.

Plasticard tubing is certainly the simplest way to scratchbuild the barrel of a kannon, which is usually the most difficult bit. And you'll need some sort of wheels for the gun carriage.

But as you don't have any plasticard (you don't want to order some online?), you may be better off looking at cannon-ish things you can orkify. Definitely have a look through local toy shops and 'dollar shops' (or local equivalent) - although most toys are either horribly toy-like or stupidly expensive, now and then you'll find something cheap and effective, But even then, plasticard makes it much easier to orkify them.

Unless they're for friendly games only, also keep in mind the size should roughly match the GW models, aroun 5cm wide and high, and about 7cm long including gun barrel.

Hey Clang,
I was just wondering, where is a good place to get plasticard online? Is it called plasticard?

Somewhere in south-central England.

Plasticard is the usual name in the UK. You can get it from Amazon. Try looking for plastic sheet or styrene sheet if your search for plasticard finds nothing.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I got my polystyrene plates from an architect supplier. Like others already said plasticard is just a term used for polystyrene plates. You'll probably find something if you serch for polystyrene. (Plates, rods, tubes, ...)

You can certainly search for Plastruct or Evergreen, who are two makers of styrene sheets (aka plasticard). Many independent hobby shops, model railroad stores, etc.. carry both companies.
