Hello everyone!

My name Is Remco Tuerlings and I'm new to Dakka but am a veteran to Warhammer and Warhammer 40K (17years all ready).

Some thing about myself:

Well, I live in the lovely country of the Netherlands. The south (Noord-brabant) in the city of Tilburg to be precise. I first discovered Warhammer fantasy and 40K when I was just a little boy of 13 years old. In a neat store tucked away in one of the many city centers shopping streets was this little games store where they sold any game you could think of. As I passed the street my eyes caught a glimpse of what I later learned to be a life size space marine statue.

Inside this shop they had gaming tables with demo armies and walls plastered with blisters filled with shiny little metal figurines and stacked boxes with awe inspiring graphics. I was hooked from the moment I entered the store. In the back there was a big room filled with tables, where like minded humans where painting, playing and enjoying the hobby. After staring for almost an hour at all the painted show models inside a glass cabinet a deep voice behind me broke my trance like state with the words " Would you like to try it for you self?". I got into an conversation that lead to a buying of a starters package. As soon as I re-entered the room with all the newly forged battle brothers and sisters (Yes we had some nice sisters in that room to! Lol) I had the status of a recruit. And got tips from all on how to paint and what army to buy and what not.

From that day forward I've spend lots of spare time in collecting, painting and playing warhammer (and 40K).

But it got less intensive when I went to the school for Arts in utrecht (HKU) where I was focussing my attention to studying the fine arts of Illustration. And I've stopped entirely when I was in my final year and the game shop I've spend so many of my thursday and saturday evenings closed. I can still feel the sorrow in my hart when I think of the moment the shop owner told us (the shop veterans) they had to close because the business was going really bad and they couldn't afford it any longer.

...

Until a few months ago when I accidentally found a games shop reopened some where else in the outskirts of the city center.

Since then I've bought an entirely new 4000point High Elves army (ol'time favo) which I still have to finish and have bought a smaller 40K space wolves squadron as a break from the HE army.

I've already done a few nice big models which Ill be posting the photo's of them soon.
Also converted a Lizzardmen carnosaurus into a brutal realistic looking High Elf dragon. Which is already looking good but still needs some more work (Chair and high elf rider need to be finished and painted)
and I've finished a regiment of Archers and a small regiment of White lions.
I was also working on a regiment of 46 spearmen and 40 sea guards but I've got a little bored. So...

I've taken a break from the HE and started working on my newly obtained space wolves squadron of
- 2 squads of 5 wolf guard terminators,
- Arjac rockfist which I will convert a little,
- squad of 10 Grey Hunters,
- squad of 15 Bloodclaws,
- Wolf lord on a thunder wolf with a squad of 3 thunderwolf cavalry guys.
And maybe Ill attend to reproduce Beamo's venerable dreadnought Bjorn the fellhanded (which is THE reason I've joined here).

Well thanks for your time guys and galls! Hope to share some of my work with you guys soon!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome to Dakka!

Great bio! I too felt bad when a LGS closed. Felt even worse when I had to close my own a few years ago.

Ahh yes Eindhoven. Studied, worked and partied there, but I never knew they also had a GW shop. On what days do they have store games where all hobbists come to play?

Oh yes i'm no longer a snack for fenrasian wolves!

Well I do not come a lot in the GW and I play mostly with familu at home so i dont play there, but you can find it on the facebook page or you can email rick(the shop manager)

You play space wolves?

The gamesworkshop isnt very old, i think 3 - 4 years so maybe thats the reason you dont knew about it.
