The issue was that FW was always the "luxury" branch, so you expected to pay more and get higher quality, unique type of things. Imagine the difference between a Toyota and a Lexus; same manufacturer, difference branch, basically the same car but one has better/more expensive parts and looks better. You expect to pay more for a Lexus though, because it's seen as a luxury brand. That's how Forge World always was.

Nowadays though, the cost of GW is comparative to FW, which speaks volumes, that the "consumer" brand has gotten as expensive (or more) as the "luxury" brand.

Also I'm guessing around $600ish.

I've decided to drop the FW products. They aren't really necessary. Getting a Frontline Gaming level 3 commission on the army would add another $1134.50!

I dont see why. If your going standard Iron hands

priming black and a quick airbrush of a slightly lighter black and adding a bit of metallics is all you need to do to get this army up and running.

for muuuuch less than 1134.50

unless you dont want to assemble and paint your self :/

Forge World is extremely expensive. I manage to find it easier to justify than GW's core overpriced models though because FW stuff more often than not looks top notch, well proportioned, well detailed, compared to GW models which more often than not looks like toys.

I wonder what the prices would be here in Aus...prolly double the $630.
I found a discounted chinese knockoff website that makes most of GW/Forgeworld stuff a few months ago... high quality, free shipping, it's worth looking around.

FW prices are not inflated here in Aus, unlike standard GW stuff so it'll be the same. It results in FW being pretty competitive pricewise if buying legit locally, though importing from a US discounter is about half local retail. That said, the regional pricing makes us all sing "yarr harr fiddle dee dee" so it's moot.

No.

Barring illegal pirate recasters.

And we do not reference them on Dakka.

I built the Death Korp of Kreig army of my dreams on Forgeworld once.

It was an awesome entrenched, artillery heavy 1850 list that had all the cool units I'd want and absolutely pummeled the opponent with siege warfare, which I love!

Problem? It was also $1,850. I had built an army that was dollar per point equivalent. I died a little that day.

If I REALLY went all out, I would replace all the GW tactical marines with MKIII armor.
