I was wondering if its possible to have my apothecary given other weapons and wargear along with the narthecium like a power weapon or flamer etc. since hes also a veteran. Unclear in the command squad entry in the army list section, just says: "One veteran may be upgraded to an Apothecary, taking a narthecium". Unsure if allows me to take upgrades other options vets can take in it or not. Also if other modeling questions then ask here I'm sure others will know. Thanks for the help.

He is not a "veteran" as it were, but an Apothecary. Apothecaries are characters with their own separate entries. There might be some controversy over whether or not you can buy him a plasma pistol or whatever when he's still a veteran before upgrading him to an Apothecary, but personally I just play it on the safe side and run him with the default equipment Apothecaries are equipped with.

Its a debate that's gone on a long time. People used the (old) Ork Codex as an example, where a Boy could be given a Big Shoota and THEN upgraded to a Nob as per the FAQ. So the arguement there is that if he can do it, so can SM Company Champions (and now Apothecaries too). I'm in that boat. I say its legal, others will disagree, and I'm not getting into debate. That's my view on it.
