Jade Empire. If you are into RPGs at all, Jade Empire.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Just running through the Wikipedia list of Xbox games and listing off any that jump out at me as being something I remember (which isn't saying it's good).

That lost got a lot longer than I thought it would. I spoilered the whole thing. If I had to pick 5 to collect here's my list, in no particular order:

Psychonauts
Phantom Dust
Steel Battalion (good luck... this is a collector's item and no mistake)
The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
Beyond Good & Evil

Spoiler:

Exclusives:
Blinx: The Time Sweeper
Gunvalkyrie
Jet Set Radio Future
Phantom Dust
Project Gotham Racing
Steel Battalion (good luck... this is a collector's item and no mistake)

Non Exclusives:
Alter Echo
Beyond Good & Evil
Fatal Frame
The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction
Prince of Persia (Sands of Time was great, the rest...not so much)
Manhunt (more for collector's value owning a piece of gaming history than because it's such a great game)
Psychonauts
Rogue Trooper
Star Wars: Battlefront I and II (I recommend the PS2 version over the Xbox honestly)

Non Exclusives you really should buy for PC instead:
Area 51
Bard's Tale
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Halo 1 and 2 (although if you just have to pick, get 2, it's miles better)

Battlefront 1 and 2 still hold up as some of the most fun games ever made, definitely get those. Republic Commando is great too.

If you're a Star Wars fan, Knights of the Old Republic is great, and Revenge of the Sith is cool (plays a lot like The Force Unleashed, but with more focus on lightsabers over the Force)

Lego Star Wars 1 and 2.

The Two Towers and The Return of the King are fun. The Third Age is also great.

Jet Set Radio was a cool game. Definitely a bit weird but you should be able to find it cheap.

007 Nightfire is a game that my friends and I lost many hours to growing up. Has the best multiplayer in a bond game since Goldeneye.

Mechassault 2 has some cool Mechanics I remember loving.

and one of my all time favorites, Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Basically a game where you're a tiny robot beating the crap out of bigger robots. Tons of weapons, a surprisingly long and varied campaign, lots of humor, and several cool mechanics. You can target different limbs on a robot in order to weaken or destroy them, for example, you can shoot an enemy's gun arm and it will hang useless to his side. You also get a weapon later on where you can take over enemy robots and use them against their allies. An excellent game and I'm really sad it'll probably never get a sequel.

Also Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2, Full Spectrum Warrior, Star Wars Republic Commando, Pyschonauts, and Call of Duty Big Red One would all be worth checking out.

I'd second Call Of Cthulu and Beyond Good And Evil. Throw in Baldurs Gate: Dark Alliance, Alien Hominid, Black, Riddick:Escape From Butcher Bay and Project Zero (Fatal Frame), and you've got some cracking games.

Enjoy whatever you end up getting though. I loved my ol' Big Black Box....

Ah, both Jet Grind and Jet Set Radio were fun games. Spent plenty of time playing those games.

I'll also agree with Battlefront 1/2, Halo 1/2, Beyond Good & Evil, and the first Prince of Persia.

Ha, one of the finest games on the original Xbox, and an exclusive no less (until a PSN/Steam release in 2010), with no mention yet:

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. A true overlooked classic, you'll be amazed by how incredibly good it is. A good way to describe it would be a mix between Halo and Manhunt.

Rainbow Six 3 is also good, the ps2 version was atrocious and wasn't really the same game.

I would ignore recommendations of Call of Cthulu, it is an abysmal game, it simply pioneered some of the cheap tricks employed by the Amnesia series.
