Yes, I know there is no Tech Sister, but I am making one anyway just for fun.

1: This is a WIP, I began with a mini with some paint on it, and some of my bits have some on them too, so the pictures are a bit messy. Sorry.
2: Again, these are pictures from my iphone with no special lighting
3: The wrench is from Hobby Lobby, a set for doll houses.
4: Am I missing anything? Is it too much? Too Little? Feed back and comments welcome.

I the wrench is too obviously not made for WH40K models... It looks impractically oversized and the edges not sharp enough.

I really like the combi-melta though, and the exo-skeleton-arm-thing (I really have no idea how these things are called) looks really convincing!

Good point, so that is one vote for removing the wrench. Hum, what would be a good thing to do with the left hand? Any thoughts? I have a left hand with a space marine scanner thing in it.

BTW, the servo arm is from the tach marine box. It is the loader arm from the missile launcher backpack.

I have base coated the mini so we can get a better look at it:

Does this help?

I second on removing the wrench. It has a wrong feel to it.

Ya, I'm going to nix the wrench. I think I will try the scanner thing. Space marine hands are so big, I'll see how it looks.

Back when I used to mod things for Star Wars cosplay, the issue with something like the wrench is that it looks like a wrench. Immersion gets broken and the fantasy gets broken when a real world object looks too close to a real world object. You would think that they use something else other than wrenches even though they do.

The wrench can be used it just needs to be changed to not be a wrench. It needs to be masked or changed to where it looks like something else that fits. Remove the divot on the adjustable side, so it is smooth and not sticking out. Then cover up, mask or make smooth the part where the worm-screw is. Then if you shape the U part of the wrench to something else it will fit more in place. Also cover, patch the whole at the base of the wrench. Once it no longer looks like a wrench then it will probably closely match.

Some examples of how something like a wrench is changed just look at Relic Knights and Cerci Speed Circuit Pit Crew. It is basically what you have but it doesn't look like a common today wrench, its been modified to look like a weapon or something more fantasy/scifi looking even though it has the same purpose.

I thought I recognized that wrench. I got that set of tools too. I primarily used it for the hammer that came with it tho lol

Well, looking in my bits box I found this mechanical hand, I think a bionic hand would be good for a Tech in the 40K universe. I think I have her ready for paint! Thanks for the feedback about the wrench.

Yup, I definitely think that's an improvement. Have fun painting her, and don't forget to share the results!
