Hey there.

Name's Scott, and I'm in Nashville, TN (USA).

I haven't regularly played any tabletop mini games in almost 10 years, though I did originally start playing 40k and WHFB around 1997 (when my Noise Marines had awesome cheesy demon guitar-guns). Real life and finances got in the way of me playing the last several years, but now I'm rekindling the old flame and with a new goal - to really learn the modeling / painting aspects much better than before.

I've always been a reasonably adept gamer, but I've never had the tools on hand to really do the modeling and painting of figs any justice. Now I'm finally getting a full array of Dremel / X-Acto knives / other bits and pieces to do the hobby right - whereas before I had like 3 old files, one pair of clippers and a few old and badly worn brushes (because being a starving musician leaves little in the way of funds for hobby supplies).

I hope to pick the brains of the community here to learn how to really step up my game for assembling / painting so I can field properly presentable armies on the tabletop.

My previous favorite armies:
Anything Slaaneshi (since the late 90's - because GUITAR GUNS!)
Skaven back when you could field an all skirmisher Eshin army

I'm currently looking at just rebooting altogether and starting with IG (or AM, I guess now). But more infantry heavy - kind of a light infantry / airborne sort of motif, but there'll be plenty of time for list building while I'm painting some core choices and trying to get my feet under me since I'm so freakin' rusty.

Next order of business - finding a good tabletop vise and magnifying glass set up.

Fire away, Dakka

Wow they are old, think GW should actually modernise some older models but keeping same weapons or very similar weapons (as I don't collect Slaanesh but them guitar guns actually do look cool). I'm an CSM, Necron & Dark Eldar collector so far. But only CSM and Dark Eldar are own by me (Necrons kind of got stolen away by me by something in house ^^')

But anyway, welcome to DakkaDakka

Hope you learn many new things here and enjoy your time here

Right on. I'm closer to the Smyrna side of things myself.

Might end up at the same tourney in the nearish future or something along those lines. Still got a couple of months of assembling / painting / catching up since I'm many editions behind, before I try anything along those lines though.

Hoping there's enough 40k demand around here. I think my FLGS might have a bit more WHFB going on lately. We'll see.
