Can you deep strike to an area that is within a Void Shield?

Chaos Space Marines are invading an Ork Encampment but the pesky Orks have set up an array of Void Shield Generators at their perimeter. The CSMs have some Terminators, Obliterators, and Mutilators led by a couple Chaos Lords that want to deep strike inside that void shield. There are some Ork Units behind the shield but there is plenty of room for a small CSM unit to fit. What should happen? Should the deep striking CSMs bounce of the shield? Is it a mishap?

You can Deep Strike into that area as far as I know, bearing in mind the generator itself is impassible(?) terrain. Check the Stronghold Assault book to see if there's anything to state otherwise.

If you're asking for a fluff perspective, I'm not sure whatsoever.

If you're going to be using VSGs in a game, I strongly recommend picking up a copy of Stronghold Assault - their rules are a little wonky and hard to understand if you don't have a full copy to read through.

But to answer your question, VSGs only have rules that affect shooting.

Except the FAQ for Stronghold Assault basically says "...see the Special Rules section in Warhammer: 40,000: The Rules..." It seems the only reason to buy Stronghold Assault now is purely for the fortifications in it.

I agree with Tamwulf. I have the E-version of Stronghold Assault and the image of the VSG has been replaced by 'Forbidden by Inquisition Decree'. My Orks didn't get the memo (or simply don't care)

Re-reading the section on VSG it does sound like the shield only protects against shooting attacks. Fluff-wise I'm not sure that makes sense but that's how I'm going to play it.

It's just a casual game, I'm sure my buddy will agree to play it this way.

To my recollection that has always been the "official" picture for the Void Shield Generators, as it was months after the book was released before they showed us what the damn thing even looked like.
Took even longer to releasing the Model....

I don't know about rules but for fluff its entirely possible. The Titanhammer Terminator Squad formation was designed to teleport inside the Void Shields, wail on the toes while the commander juggles a Void Grenade.

I just had flush-backs at having to seriously argue that a "shield" doesn't always mean a solid wall 100% of the time, blocking 100% of incoming objects....
