The unit itself isn't spectacular, don't blow a bunch of points on it. The reason for the claw is that in a challenge you'll get re-rolls to hit and to wound (+rending).
As he said. Except I wouldn't bother giving the Sergeant anything. Maybe a grav pistol to be more
TAC. Even if by drop pod, the squad is unlikely to see assault. Only recommend Vet Sgt upgrade to better the chance of the squad not breaking.
Ray of hope, I have had Assault Marines make it to melee by jump pack. You really have to play Hide-and-Go seek with them while moving up the enemy's flank. Kit at your own peril.
