Subject: making Khornate Obliterators

I've been fielding Obliterators in my mono- khorne army, but sadly, they are just these poorly green-stuffed DV terminators.
Has anyone seen really good khornate Obliterator conversions around? is the Obliterator Kit from GW worth it?
|
I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature. |

The obliterators from GW are a bit meh to my eyes hitech miniatures do a good alternative model. But it is also a good opportunity to do some fun conversion work. Terminators make great display pieces for your army.

(even more costly than GW but sooo much prettier)

As awesome as that conversion is, I cant help but think khorne would never approve of obliterators. Surely he'd prefer mutilators as theyre all about getting up close and personal.

Do obliterators not shed blood and collect skulls? I think they do.
Furthermore, obliterators have power fists, and can take MoK.
Anyways, I can also show my aborted attempt at khorne obliterators. There's no reason you couldn't take regular obliterators and just kitbash some khorne onto them.

I like that idea, but are there any other kits you suggest? Does anything from the fantasy range lend itself to this? I have only gotten into 40k recently and so my bits game is weak atm

Way back when they did not provide any bits to attach to the hands, never mind the original obliterators on a 1" stand.
I used a bunch of chain swords as "fingers" for the left hand and a bunch of green stuff to blend.
I figured his "death noogie" should be spectacular.
For the heads I have used the fanged Berserker head and even a plain skull.
The heads still seem a we tad small on the original model.
I had an old metal dreadnaught and used the "leaf rake" dread close combat weapon and cut the large fingers off and added.
I figure though for a self respecting follower of the blood good it must be able to decapitate AND let the blood flow, Khorn version of the Ork power shears?
I took some plasticard tubing and made a huge tube like an enormous lascannon and added a bunch of odds and sods around it.
If I find the guys I will take some pictures and post.

Your best options is the Hitech Miniatures or converting Space Marine Centurions.
