The only army I play. 30k is awesome.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

Occasionally. Its hard for me to do just cause everything I want to use from 30k is fairly tough do do a 'counts-as' and college+ crappy part time job = no forge world :(

I've been retooling all my marine stuff to 30k. Lots of conversions and the occasional FW splurge. Honestly, it's the way Big E meant for marines to be.

30k is in the abstract a better game than 40k, but the models and books are really expensive and you're SOL if you want to play any xenos. It's the sort of thing that's interesting to do if you have a group to do it with you but it's not something to casually dabble in.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Well I'm casually building a legion force atm... I don't see why you can't. If it comes down to it I'm sure it wouldn't be toooo difficult to proxy as a SM or CSM army (as long as you're clever with what units and stuff you take). But yeah. It is expensive (hence casually building a force... Gonna take me a while)

From a rules perspective, what's the main differences between 30K and 40K? I get that the army lists are different, but I'm talking nuts and bolts rules.

Nothing, the game is a supplement of 40k.

^. It's a different army list, different wargear and different force org charts but the rules are the same.

30k tends to have a few more special rules, and chucks out some of the sillier ones from 40k, but is mostly the same. Just more balanced as everyone has the same core units, apart from Mechanicum.
