So the apocalypse formation 'Covenant of the thousand sons' let's you take 1 ML3 psyker or ahriman and at least 3 other psykers to grant you an additional spell.

The spell involves sacrificing up to 3 psykers in the unit to shoot an equal amount of Str D vortexes.

Now, can I use Ahriman and 9 ML1 psykers (1 unit) to cast the spell 3 times and shoot 9 str D vortex's on turn 1?
It would imply sacrificing 540 points worth of units to gak out 9 vortexes put I think you can get your worth out of it since those things keep roaming the board.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness.

Well, it is an Apocalypse Formation and so will only be used in games of Apocalypse. Those games are typically 3000 points on the small end. These formations tend to be 'over the top'.

It's not like you can use this in games of regular 40k.

I see what you're trying to do, but the "up to 3 per turn" restriction stops Storm of Change from dropping more than 3 templates a turn.

However, you can sacrifice 1 sorcerer and use Storm of Change up to three times in that way with Ahriman, thereby selecting up to three separate targets whereas a burn of 3 sorcerers would mean 3 vortexes on a single target.

I've done that a few times with Ahriman. Consider having Fateweaver for a re-roll that can help you avoid the worst Perils.
